Keeneland Race 9 Toyota Blue Grass G1 Post time 5:30 ET
#9 Interactif 4/1
#7 Paddy O’Prado 10/1
#8 Aikenite 4/1
#1 Odysseus 7/2
#9 Interactif is coming off a solid second place finish in the San Felipe (G2) over the Pro Ride surface at Santa Anita, the colt’s first trip over a synthetic racing strip. The winner of the race was Sidney’s Candy, who came back to win the Santa Anita Derby (G1) in his next start on April 3. The fourth place finisher in the race was American Lion, who returned to win the Illinois Derby (G3), also on April 3. The colt’s four turf tries in stakes company are all solid, he makes his third start of his current form cycle, and there is no reason to think he won’t take to the polytrack. The colt is by Broken Vow out of an unraced Broad Brush mare that also dropped a nice runner in Wingspan ($120K).
#7 Paddy O’Prado may end up the value of the race if he goes off near his 10/1 morning line. The Dale Romans trainee is coming off a sharp win in the Palm Beach Stakes (G3) over the turf at Gulfstream Park. The effort was flattered when the runner up Dean’s Kitten came back to win the Lane’s End (G2) at Turfway Park on March 27. The colt has two quick works over the poly at Keeneland and has the pedigree to like the fake stuff. He is by El Prado out of the stakes winner Fun House ($432K) who did her best running on turf.
#8 Aikenite makes his first start since running third to Eskendereya in the Fountain of Youth (G2) at Gulfstream Park. That race is turning out to be a key prep as the winner came back to win the Wood Memorial (G1) at Aqueduct with Jackson Bend second, while Ice Box and Pleasant Prince returned to finish one-two in the Florida Derby (G1). The colt was a good second behind Noble’s Promise in the Breeders’ Futurity (G1) over the poly at Keeneland last fall, then was only beaten 2 ½ lengths while fifth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) run over the Pro Ride.
Wagering:
WIN: #9 to win at 3/1 or better.
EX: 7,9 / 1,7,8,9
TRI: 7,9 / 1,7,8,9 / 1,6,7,8,9
