Jockey Ejected from Philly Park After Kicking A Horse
Did you guys catch this story. That Jockey needs to be suspended for a long time after doing that shit.

Veteran jockey Victor Molina was ejected from the grounds of Philadelphia Park Monday after the track received numerous complaints concerning his actions prior to the start of the third race.

Molina, who was scheduled to ride the Clifford Sise-trained Yes Yes Ohyes, a 2-year-old colt, became pinned briefly in the starting gate when the colt reared and became stuck. After the colt was backed out of the gate and ordered scratched by the track veterinarian, Molina went to get his tack off and proceeded to kick the colt in the stomach. The kick was broadcast to a national audience by TVG, which telecasts Philadelphia Park racing on Mondays and Tuesdays.

The amount of phone calls and e-mails from outraged fans to the track prompted director of racing Sal Sinatra to call the stewards with the intention of having Molina removed from the rest of his mounts Monday and all of his mounts Tuesday, followed afterward by a formal hearing.

“Victor (Molina) acted very humbly and knew he had screwed up,” said Sinatra, “but decided to abide by (Jockeys') Guild rules, which forced us to have the head of security serve him with a formal notice and he was escorted off the grounds. He has been ejected indefinitely.”

Sinatra said a hearing with stewards was set for 11 a.m. Tuesday, and he intended to get statements from Yes Yes Ohyes’ owner, Hidden Meadows Farm, and the trainer.

“Victor is the last person in the room who I’d expect this from,” said Sinatra. “He did use very, very poor judgment. It’s unfortunate, because he’s one of the classier guys in our jockey colony.”

Wished the horse would have kicked his ass back.

They were talking about this one on HRTV today, and they were saying this jockey is really looking at one long suspension because they threw him out of the park.

There`s been a couple of cases of that happening in the UK,one was where the jockey punched a horse on its head, can`t remember how long the ban was for but it wasn`t long enough.

From the bloodhorse article posted above by BBD

“Victor is the last person in the room who I’d expect this from,” said Sinatra. “He did use very, very poor judgment. It’s unfortunate, because he’s one of the classier guys in our jockey colony.”

Why in all incidents like this does it always seem to be the "classy" guy doing something like this?

I didn't see the incident, but jockeys are in a rough business, perhaps the most dangerous in all of sports. Looks like frustration got the best of him after getting hit in the starting gate. A lot worse is likely done to horses during training hours.

He should be fined and suspended for a couple of weeks. I don't think anything more is warranted. Two weeks off with no mounts is decent punishment.

I always thought Molina was a very underrated and solid jockey. He rides the turf courses very well.

I agree. This seems to be an overreaction. A 110 pound jockey is no match for an 1100 pound animal in a kicking match.
Seven days, $500 fine and an anger management class is fair

I would agree that worse things are done outside the prying eyes of the public.....however this was done on live tv (granted it was the racing channel and not network tv) but in the end perception is reality. In a sport that is sadly dying a slow death, things like this cannot go unpunished. Of course there are alot of bettors who couldn't care less about this type of incident but there are also many who do, and the last thing this sport needs is another reason to lose its customer base. Plus..outside of the triple crown and breeders cup, horse racing gets no media coverage, except when bad stuff happens. I'm not saying throw the book at him, but i do believe that a message has to be sent that this type of behaviour cannot be tolerated. Those of us who love the game cringe everytime another black eye hits the sport we love.

In tomorrow's Form, jockey Molina expressed regret for his actions."As time goes by,I feel worse and worse and worse about it.People who know me know that I would never try to hurt a horse". Molina said the colt flipped in the starting gate before the race, striking the jockey hard in the chest and head with his head."At that point I wasn't just hurting, I got mad and angry and for some stupid reason I kicked the horse"
Both the owner and trainer are quoted as saying they should go easy on Molina, if possible.
Molina will go before the track stewards Friday.

Sounds like a sincere apology. Small fine and small suspension and let him move on.
