Questioning Two Selections Tonight: New Jersey & Buffalo
Okay, okay so I should have expressed my opinion before the puck dropped to begin these two games but what the heck. Now what I can't for the life of me understand is why a number of people, some, chose to wager on either or both of these two clubs tonight.
The New Jersey Devils just returned home from a lengthy road trip and the first game on home ice in this situation normally spells disaster for any NHL club. Furthermore we all know who the Devils are missing from their lineup, those being two integral parts of their roster on defense and offense. Lastly they were playing the New York Rangers, a division rival and a team coming off a division loss in Philadelphia just last night. Now what are/were the chances that the Rangers were going to drop their second division game within a twenty-four hour span to a team missing two key components on their roster?
    Exactly!
Next up the Buffalo Sabres, a team in somewhat disarray and a team at the bottom or near the bottom of the Eastern conference standings. The Sabres too came into tonight's game facing a division rival, the Montreal Canadiens. The Sabres are currently without the services of star netminder Ryan Miller, most definitely not what you want when you're going up against a team like Montreal, which was coming off of a 3-0 shutout loss in Columbus three nights ago.
    Exactly!

In closing, for those who fell prey to one of or maybe both of these setbacks, I believe a very strong play comes up at the top of the hour. The play is the Pittsburgh team total over 2.5 @ -155. On the flipside for those who played the Canadiens or Rangers or maybe both for that matter, well done and congratulations on your winner(s).

    Pittsburgh tt over 2.5 -155

Well my selection wasn't any better than the two I described above, those being Buffalo and Jersey. The Penguins couldn't score the necessary three goals on Anaheim's Jonas Hiller, even though they outshot the Ducks tonight 32-19, including 12-4 in the third period. For anyone who went with me on this, my apologies for maybe bringing it on a bit too strong. The bottom line however is that Pittsburgh played the first thirty minutes or so like they couldn't score in a soccer net and then finished the final period and a half as if they were going to score ten goals. Hiller however shut the door when they (Pitt) needed one more goal.
    Tough loss!
