I don't know why 18 ppl came to view this thread and no one could lend a hand. It seems to me that you're not really familiar with spreads.

To simplify things, think of it this way: using the spread (or puck line), take the spread and add/subtract it from the score of the team that you're betting on. After you're done adding/subtracting the spread, if your team is winning, you win too.

    Example: TOR +1.5 +120, PIT -1.5 -140
If the score is TOR 4, PIT 5

TOR +1.5 results in a win because in essence, you're paying to get more points. In this case, you paid for TOR +1.5 goals, meaning (betting wise), your score would be TOR 5.5, PIT 5... Get it?

Conversely, if the score is TOR 4, PIT 5
PIT -1.5 results in a loss because you need PIT to win by more than 1.5 goals. In this case, they only won by 1 goal, which means your bet will be a loss.

By the way, with puck lines (of +/-1.5), if a team wins by 1, it will not result in a push (See example above)

Not sure if I understand you question.

-1.5 means that team needs to win by 2pts.

+1.5 mean that team need to not lose by 2pts or more.

Example: Tonight I took CBJ +1.5 vs CHI. The final score was CHI 5 - CBJ 4. I won that bet because CBJ only lost by 1 goal.

If I would have taken CHI -1.5 that would have been a lost because they only won by 1 goal.

The half points are confusing when your learning about spreads. But the only time you have a push is when the spead is a whole number (1,2,3, ect.)

Examble: You take BOS -1 vs TB. Final score BOS 3 - TB 2. That would be a push because BOS only won by 1 goal. (Note 1.5pt spreads are more common in NHL)

Hopefully that helps and I didn't confuse you more.
