Hello All,
The Canucks fell short in OT last night, but provided a moral victory of giving a coin flip effort at +169. Of course, the RIGHT side is the WINNING side. Onward and Upward.
Wednesday Pick: Buffalo +149
This moneyline opened at +150 yesterday and fell throughout the night. It sits at +134 with more than 60% of the action on the dog.
Buffalo: In January, the Sabres have posted a 12.5% positive PP/PK rating compared to their season number. They are getting better and looking less and less like the borderline AHL team from last season. The goalie situation is a little convoluted, with Lehner getting only his third start this season. The first one wasn't very good, losing 4-1 to the Bruins. He is playing to reclaim the starting job. I can't see anything but maximum effort, the Sabres gave up a first round draft pick for the guy. This is the end of their two game road trip then back to Buffalo for the Red Wings on Friday, then back on the road. Ryan O'Reilly is back in Colorado, leading his new team in goals and points. I see a gutsy road effort from Buffalo.
Colorado: The Av's got road win at Winnipeg Monday and are back home for two. Their season PP/PK rating is about the same as the Sabres, improving in Jan by 4.5%. Varlamov has a .912 save % and looked pretty tough against the Jets. Still he can drop mid week home games like this, the last one being a 4-0 shutout against Tampa Bay. The Avalanche are a little schizo, beating tough teams on the road (Chicago, St Louis, San Jose), but then drop home games in blowout fashion (Toronto, Calgary).
I'll take the young team on the rise with the goalie trying to retain his "starter" status. Especially at +149.
Good Luck
