History will be made in Monday’s game against the Oilers and the Red Wings. Referee Evgeny Romasko will be the first Russian referee in the history of the NHL to call a game in the league.

He's a former VHL level defenseman for THK Tver and is both strong physically and an outstanding skater.

rocket I watched the ESPN 30 for 30 "Of Miracles and Men" last night. It was about that Miracle on ice Olympic hockey game between your motherland and USA from the Russian point of view. Not sure if you've seen it or not as it might bring up bad memories but it was really really good..highly recommend!

hey bud....I didn't see that particular one, but there were plenty of other programs done on this topic before. It's a great sports story ...no doubt about it and Americans should be proud of it.

had nothing or little to do with the Americans. It focused on the Russians from their old coach that the players loved like a 2nd father then the coaching change to a guy that they hated...and the intense out of the box training that they did and all the BS, politics and tragedy that they had to endure...

it's nothing new - all sportsmen in almost all sports who represent Russia went through that kinda training during the USSR era
I've seen many interviews (all in Russian) with those Soviet players and the coaching stuff ...so I probably know what they were talking about in this program
