    3 Questions About Halftime Lines
okay I'm thinking about starting to do some halftime lines in games like Boise vs Nevada this week (where everybody knows the game will be complete annihilation but we're not sure if Boise will allow a backdoor cover late in the game). I have some questions for people who have had some experience playing halftime lines (I've never really done it)

1)In your experience, Is this generally a better play than the game line in situations like this where the spread for the game is at 27 to guard against a backdoor cover??? Or are you better off just giving a superior team 4 quarters to dominate??

2)If the game is line is about 27-28, approximately what is the halftime line gonna be?? 14? 15?? 16?? 17??

3)Have you guys had success playing halftime lines??

If you think a team can name the score but are afraid they will call off the dogs and not cover a huge spread, you are much better off playing the 1st half rather than waiting for a 2nd half line.

Halftime lines are for games when you don't have an opinion before the game but then develop an opinion on 2nd half after watching the 1st half closely. Some of the highest +EV opportunities come when you aren't afraid to bet a 2h line, even though you are getting line much worse than what you could have gotten if you had taken that team for the game.

        1) Personally I'd rather play the 1H line because of the instances you described above. Most of the time in weak OOC games I will mostly play 1H opposed to game. No reason to show your playbook up 42-0 on New Mexico in the 3rd quarter.

        2) With shorter lines - you'll usually see the 1H line about half or around (-7.0 game might be -3.0 to -4.0 1H or so.) Taking a big favorite is a bit different. You might see Boise around -18 or higher 1H. Books expect the same you and I do - the favorite to get up big early and then sit on it. IE: Bama was -22.0 1H against Kent St but -39.0 for game.

        3) I for one love playing halves and have had a fair amount of success. Mostly play 1H lines when it's situations where you have a multiple TD fave for the reasons already listed. In closer matchups I'm a big fan of 2H bets. Nothing better then a huge 2H middle opportunity or being able to buy off a bad game bet.
