I believe that there's a pretty severe overreaction happening with the line for this game. So many people are so quick to bash Trickett and claim that FSU has no chance without Manuel, but lets look at the two teams' last week's games. FSU lost 23-13 to the #1 team in the country, who blew them out 47-17 last season. Does this really change what we think about FSU's team? No. Clemson, on the other hand, beat Auburn 38-24, which looks nice on paper but doesn't really mean a lot with the current state of the Auburn team. Clemson's other two wins were against Troy and Wofford, neither of which are really much of a challenge. The Tigers have risen into the top 25 for the first time since late 2009 with that big win over Auburn and I can't help but feel they are in a prime spot for a letdown after a beating the defending champs.
Florida State's team is definitely a bit banged up right now, but after this week they are heading into a bye so they know they'll have 2 weeks to recuperate while Clemson has to play Virginia Tech next week. Manuel will do everything he can to get himself into playing shape for Saturday, and I expect to see him in this game, although Trickett will most likely see a fair bit of time as well. Clemson's QB, Boyd, has played well against the three lesser opponents, but he now faces a top tier defense in FSU that will not be so easily broken.
I expect FSU to win this game. Clemson has not really proven themselves yet, and I just think they will have a lot of trouble scoring against FSU. Given that the Seminoles are coming off a tough loss and heading into a bye, I feel like they will field a strong effort on Saturday. I don't want to predict an easy win for FSU, but I will not be surprised if Florida State handles Clemson fairly easily.Comment -

Even when you factor in that Auburn is not the same team they were a year ago, beating the defending champ in front of a Death Valley crowd is a big deal for the Tigers. To follow up that performance with B2B games against the two best teams in the ACC in the next two weeks is a tough assignment.
I really love playing strong teams with a bye in the following week (ie: Texas last week), especially early in the season. These teams hold nothing back.Comment -
Toledo is an interesting team. They've had a very tough pair of games in the last two weeks against Ohio State and Boise State, who are the only ranked teams Toledo has played since early 2008. I watched both games, and bet against Toledo in the BSU game, but I have to say, the Rockets impressed me. Specifically, Terrance Owens impressed me a lot, and I feel like he should be the #1 starter rather than sharing the role with Austin Dantin. Since Tim Beckman took over the team 2 years ago, the Rockets have really played well coming off a loss (7-3 ATS). To me, facing two top teams in Weeks 2 & 3 places them in an ideal spot for a big road win in Week 4. Everything about their preparation for those games involved playing against the bigger/stronger/faster OSU & BSU teams so I feel like they'll be in high gear this week against the Orange.Toledo +3 (-101) x2Comment -

I make this line to be CIN -9, with a total of 50. I suspect this will be a fairly easy game for Cincinnati. Early money drives the line up, public money pushes it back down. I won't be surprised if the line moves back to -7.5 before kickoff.Comment -

I have to think that offense will dominate defense in the 2H. UNC is doing a decent job at the line of scrimmage, but are giving up the big plays too easily. Both sides have missed big opportunities so far.Comment -
Thanks LTA. Ironically, despite the FSU game being the most volatile with Manuel out, I'm the most confident in the Noles out of all the plays today. Even if I don't have a great day, the 4 point spreads I played at open last sunday have moved an average of 32 cents in my favour as of 9am pacific this morning. A good omen.Comment -

Or unlucky!!! This team had 1st and goal at the 9 yard line and ran 2 horrible plays followed by a pass to a guy who was 3 yards short of the end zone with his back towards the end zone. Horrible execution. Then the first play of overtime they run a route with 2 receivers going to the same spot but the qb underthrows the first receiver and over throws the following reciever so there are 2 defenders in about the same spot there to get the int.

It varies. I do it the most in the NBA as the value that can be gained is just obscene sometimes. Today, the OKState +16.5 line was far too good to ignore. The Razorbacks ML was always going to be a hedge on a Tide ML play, but I held off when Bama -250 was offered (I got greedy) and the game got out of control quickly with the Pick 6, etc. I've already given up on Ark as a loss.Comment -

FSU literally did everything possible to lose this game. Multiple pass interference calls, roughing the punter, taking a penalty that negated a 60 yard kickoff return, a complete inability by their running backs to move the ball on the ground which forced a lot of pressure on Trickett, and then finally a delay of game call on 4th and 4 to end the game. Trickett played about as well as he could have. A frustrating loss, and pretty much the end of FSU's season...Comment
