PAC-12 Coaches on the Hot Seat...Yes/Maybe
To be honest with you, I have never been a strong student of the Pac-10 Conference. I very seldom bet on these teams for obvious reasons. Of late, I have been trying to learn more about this conference, coaches and players.

Let's talk about coaches and those who may be feeling some WARMTH this season. Here goes and welcome your thoughts...............

YES: Paul Wulf, Washington State (5-32 record over the last three years)

YES: Rich Neuheisel, UCLA (near the bottom of the conference three consecutive years...has simply been a disappointment for the Bruins)

MAYBE: Dennis Erickson, Arizona State (15-21 last three seasons and no bowl invites. Should have team to turn it around....if he doesn't???)

MAYBE: Lane Kiffin, Southern Cal (smell of investigation of him at Tennessee still in the air with NCAA. If he becomes a huge distraction, Trojans will dump him)

    Again, welcome your thoughts.......................

RPP, I may differ with you and most on Kiffin. What's his 'track' record? Oakland = problems.
Tennessee = problems. Passing this pattern on to USC ain't going to change this guys stipes.

Trojans have an AD who played QB for them and understands the law. He loves Southern Cal and AIN'T going to allow a hotdog to tarnish his University. I like the AD, I don't trust the coach...PERIOD.

      Trash gets thrown out......botton line.

        Here is my take.

        1. Paul Wulff. Washington State. He has never won more than two games in any of his three seasons at Wazzu. He only has two wins in the Pac 10, one of which coming against a team that won no games during that season. He must win atl least 4 games this season or he is gone.

        2. Jeff Tedford. Cal. Talk about an under achiever. Tedford's Cal teams are known for chocking in the stretch. In the last 5 years, Tedfords teams are 5-10 in their last 3 games of the season, including 2010, when his team lost their last three games, all at home, and failed to become bowl eligable. Tedford has never been able to get the best out of his talent.

        3. Dennis Erickson. Arizona State. After a great start (10-3 in 2007), Ericksons team have combined for a 15-21 record over the past 3 years, with no bowl appearances. Four of those 15 wins came against FCS teams, and 3 more came asainst Washington State. This year, Arizona State is picked by many to win the Pac 12 South. With a schedule that includes USC at home early, and no Stanford, Erickson will not survive unless ASU wins the Pac 10 South.

        4. Rick Neuheisel. UCLA. Neuheisel has no business being a head coach. His team has had two 4 wins season in the three years he has been there. During that time, his record against other Pac 10 (now 12) teams is 8-19. His offensive ideas were terrible, so he fires Norm Chow, the best offensive mind that he had. The attitude on the team is terrible. The only reason why Neuheisel may survive another dismal season is because A.D. Guerrero is too cheap to fire Head Coaches. He just lets their contracts expire.

No one else is in any type of danger at all. Lane Kiffin is safe at USC. What he did at Tennessee was basically out of desperation, because the Vols program was in shambles and they were not (and still are not) a team with a realistic shot at winning the SEC East crown, much less the SEC Crown. Kiffin has run a model program at USC since arriving. Pat Haden will see to that. This is Kiffin's dream job, and with the current NCAA sanctions placed against USC, Lane is under a lot less pressure to win right now. It will be different a couple of years down the line.

They may figure out that Kiffin is a joke and not a head coach

That is what is widely believed by a bunch of sorry a** Tennessee and SEC fans. The fact of the matter is that ANY Head Coach would have jumped at the chance of landing the USC job. You SEC people have to get a life. Just because Kiffin dumps Tennessee, and just because the SEC cannot defeat USC (or any them in Los Angeles for that matter) does not mean that you guys have to get all bent out of shape. Live with it.

My friend BD is loyal to the Trojans as he should be. I am also loyal to Alabama and the SEC. Let's look at how USC has stacked up against SEC teams over the years.

              Against:
              Alabama (2-5)
              Auburn (2-1)
              LSU (1-1)
              S. Car. (1-1)
              Arkansas (4-1)
              Tennessee (4-1)
              Georgia (3-0)
              Florida (1-0-1)
              Total (18-11-1)

I did not look up the time frame of these games between USC and SEC teams. Some probably go back to the thirties.

The SEC leads the Pac-10 (62-39-5) all time. I may be off a game or two one way or the other here.

They go back that far. Since the turn of the Century, USC is 4-0 against the SEC, having defeated Auburn twice (home and home by a combined score of 47-17) and Arkansas twice (home and home by a combined score of 120-31). By the way, the Arkansas team that USC defeated 50-14 at Little Rock wnet on to win the SEC West title.

Isn't Kiffin still the most hated man in College Football since Wies was tossed at ND? I know I love to throw rocks at him so I'm (maybe) disappointed that he hasn't been saying much lately. BTW, I think Pat Haden is a class act and will get this clown under control. USC deserves to get a great program going again.

Kiffin is the most hated man in college football in the South. As far as the West Coast goes, he really has not made that type of an impact, one way or another. Let's face it. What else is there to do cities like Tuscaloosa, Athens, Knottsville, Oxford, etc...besides college football?

Tedford definitely has to do something this season.

Tedford needs to win this year, and that is probably not going to happen.

The Pac-12 north will be very interesting.

I cannot see Cal finishing any higher than 5th in the Pac 12 North. With games at Washington, Oregon, and at Stanford and Arizona State to end the season, and home games against USC, Utah, and Oregon State, things look rather bleak for Cal this season. This team has less talent than most of the other teams that Tedford has coached.

I also think that Riley needs to win the Civil War either this year or in 2012.

To think that OSU might lose to UofO 4 or 5 straight seasons is crazy. I know UofO is on this incredible run, but you can't lose to your rival over and over and expect to have a job.
