    Is buying points worth it?
I have a handicapper and sometimes are the lines he gives me are not the same as what my book(betus) has, so sometimes I buy up to 1.5 pts.(sometimes it costs as much as-150), so my question is in the long run is it worth it? meaning will i win more or loss more money in the long run.

    thanks

It has saved me a couple times. More often than not it doesnt factor in much though.

why people buy points at american football or basketball? I can't understand. If you have a doubt don't take. Already there are 50-60 points, even sometimes 70-80 points. ½ points losing or ½ points winning are exception. coincidence! but odd reduce %10 for ½ point. not fair so doesn't wort it. I have never bought.I think buying points and teaser are sucker bets.

                The key numbers:
                3,7,10,6,4,14,1
I watch these closely, as it they make a difference during the season.

here's how it breaks down mathmatically:

let's keep the numbers easy and say you win 50% and lose 50%.

out of 100 games you win 50 and lose 50.

assuming a consistent wager of $100 with +$100 on wins and -$110 on losses, after 100 games you are +$5000 and -$5500 (-$500). so far, easy stuff.

let's assume you always buy a half point. that changes the numbers. after 100 games, you are +5000 and -6000 (-1000). in order to have a net zero effect, you need to push on five games that would have been losses (1 in 10).

here's what the chart looks like:

                  5000 -6000 -1000
                  5000 -5880 -880
                  5000 -5760 -760
                  5000 -5640 -640
5000 -5520 -520 (remember we were -500 without buying points)
                  5000 -5400 -400

here's the problem with buying on/off 3, it's usually -125 (or more) for that half point, but you get the idea. when it saves you, you are greatful. that said, it probably happens less than you think. if you go to scoresandodds dot com and look at the yesterday tab on sunday for saturday or on monday for sunday, not a lot of games are even close. totals - i would personally NEVER buy points on totals in football (or especially basketball).
