FREE PICK from the Dual Threat Sports website:

    UCLA +26

UCLA has absolutely no chance in this game. They are dead last in the PAC 10 in total offense, passing offense, pass efficiency offense and their starting QB Prince is questionable for tonight's game (knee injury). They are mediocre defensively. Their defensive line is terrible having allowed 313 rushing yards to Kansas State, 211 to Stanford and 304 to Cal. Now they face an Oregon offense averaging over 550 ypg and 50 ppg. They simply have no chance. Now with all that being said, it took me all of 2 minutes to cap this game. 26 points is just too many points to give in a PAC 10 game against any team not from Pullman, Washington. Can Oregon beat UCLA by more than 26 points? Absolutely, UCLA has already lost two PAC 10 games this year by 35 & 28 points. However in the past 5 1/2 years UCLA has only been a larger dog than this in PAC 10 play one time, +33 at USC in 2008. The Bruins lost 28-7. In those same 5 1/2 years Oregon has never been favored in a PAC 10 game by more than 19 points (again, WSU not included). So it won't surprise me if Oregon lays 50 on the Bruins and beats them by 35+ points. But from a "value" perspective I'll take a shot on the team that went into Austin as 14 point dogs and beat Texas as opposed to the team that has never layed this many points in a PAC 10 game and will be playing their first game ever as the # 1 ranked team in the nation.

            Very good analysis.

While UCLA did give a ton of rushing yards to K-State, about a third of those were in the 4th quarter when UCLA was stacking the line trying to get the ball back. After Daniel Thomas got past the line there wasn't a defender at the second level and he ripped off some large runs. UCLA's defense actually played pretty well that game. Box scores don't always tell the full story.

Thanks for posting that. There are some good points there. But no way could I put money on UCLA in this. Their offense is miserable. No passing game at all. Oregon will stop what running game they have. Note that, not only is the QB situation a problem, but they are missing an end/kick returner and a back/tightend (suspensions for disciplinary reasons). Not a pretty situation for UCLA. UCLA might not get 150 yards of total offense. I'll be surprised if Oregon does not come out ahead on turnovers. On the other side, Oregon will very likely move the ball at will. I imagine Oregon will get some major big plays. At home, Oregon has beat New Mexico by 72, Portland State by 69, and (most impressively) Stanford by 21, and on the road their win at Tennessee by 35 was notable. Yeah, New Mexico and Portland State aren't much, but 72 and 69? This team can score points. And their defensive performance in the last part of the Stanford game was outstanding. This is going to be a huge night at Autzen, and a statement by Oregon before a national audience. I don't think this is the week to bet against Oregon (maybe next week, depending on the line, at USC).

UCLA has had two weeks to adjust to life without Kevin Prince and the other missing starters. Will they win the game? (Hell no.) Will they cover? (I'm betting on it.) I've capped the game and my pea-sized brain has determined that UCLA +26.5 is a bargain that's too good to pass up. I fully expect the Bruins to milk the clock with some long, time consuming, multi-play drives that should allow the Ducks to comfortably win the game by 17-23 points.
