    Newbie, a little clarification
    whats up everyone
    =
Relatively new to the gambling scene comparatively speaking. Thought i was relatively knowledgeable until i stumbled upon this website, i gotta tip my hat, some of you are on your game but that being said, you also have some posters who couldnt pick a nugget out of their ass.

Now, im not up on the terminology, but i see the term "trap" game thrown around alot. For instance, this weeks upcoming Nebraska-Washington matchup has been dubbed a "trap" game. Now trap meaning?? please explain

I for one put a relatively good amt on the nebraska due to the fact that........well ya know... THEY ARE THE BETTER TEAM! the only advantage for the huskies outside of Locker of course is HFA. Washington is known for being a relatively ruckus enviorment. But in reality do you honestly see that being the deciding factor?

Nebraska is better in pretty much every facet of the game. Their spread style offense led by the athleticism of Martinez will be to much for Washingtons suspect defense, (see the oregon game last year, which happened to take place @ washington) and a stout pass defense that will give jake locker headaches. i ask you how this could be a "trap" game? Factor in that Bo Pelini has had the entire off-season to prep for this game, after starting off with 2 cupcakes, while washington has been preoccupied BYU and syracuse. Please a little help?

Also a little breakdown on the GT and North Carolina, i'm going with north carolina despite playing with backups(who would be starters on a 90% of cf teams, they looked stout against LSU), being that they have had 2 weeks to prep, home opener and the fact that GT is not the same without some sort of passing attack(combination of nesbit looking mehhh and receivers having concrete hands)

    Any help would be appreciated

My understanding of the meaning of a "trap" game is... that it's a game where the solid obvious choice of the better team could backfire because the other team has some unseen advantage like homefield or revenge or some internal motivation the other team may be lacking for their particular matchup. Maybe they came off a hard loss or and easy win or 2 or they have key injuries that might make a difference.
The game could just simply be fixed. ha. That never happens. Yes it does!
I'm with ya on the Huskers though I did tease the spread 7.5 pts.

Honestly the first thing that went through my mind, "the only way they could throw out some of the ridiculous spreads that they do, is by some sort of behind the scenes action"

Im with you on the tease, i stick with teasers a majority of the time although, occasionally when i see a good line i throw my eggs into that basket. ex: last week GB vs philly and dallas vs wash (nfl obviously) and it paid off. We'll see what happens
      thanks for the response

Interesting to me that the Nebraska line has dropped from -6 to -3. I've seen every snap this year and one thing that I have noticed is that the defensive coaches pretty much call the same 2 plays on every down. Idaho has an NFL caliber QB and we still picked him off 2 times for TDs in route to a 31-3 half time score.

Nebraska has been pretty vanilla on offense and defense so far..... not showing much for the film. I expect a big win this weekend!

As far as a "trap" goes I agree with Jakesteen. I think people use the word trap when they feel like Vegas has posted a line to "trick you" in to betting on the wrong side.

I use the word also when talking about a game like the Texans this weekend. Coming off a big win vs INDY and playing Dallas next week.... I feel like this is a definite "trap". I'm liking the Redskins to win outright!

Husker36 dead on with the nebraska game, im puzzled beyond belief with the line. I took it first thing monday morning, i saw it and my eyes lit up, thought i was a little kid again on christmas morning. I thought BetUs made a foopa and i was their to take advantage of it. Then i stumbled on this website immediately saw TRAPPP TRAPPP and i still have yet to see a resonable argument from the other side. So if anyone can make a case for Washington please do so here.

And i gotta agree with you on the skins texans game, i teased it to +10 just in case. But maybe thats the homer in me. I have been to the training camps, practices and the first game against dallas, the skins are legit. I havent seen a team in dc like this throughout my life (only 23 years but still) so i will be loading up on the skins come this sunday. But first things first, nebraska "daddy needs a new pair of shoes"

If it looks too good to be true, it usually is. The NEB and CAL game come to mind this week.

That being said, I'm still on NEB -4.5. I see where people think 'trap this' and 'trap that' but sometimes people simply overthink things. The NEB/WASH line is close b/c they see the Huskers haven't been tested, Wash has Locker and they are at home, therefore the line is close. I think NEB works 'em by 10+, hence the reason my moneys on them.

The Cal line looks, in my eyes, like the trap game. I'm on Nevada +4.5. They know everyone and their brother will throw down on Cal under 7 because they're playing who? Nevada! The public is hammering Cal. Exactly what the books want

One more to watch out for: Clemson and Auburn. With the media slashing the ACC (rightfully so) and talking up the SEC, the public is hitting Auburn to the tune of 80% (give or take a few). Take a peek back at previous meetings, and analyze the match-ups. Clemson +7.5 might not be a bad play. (I'm a Clemson fan, so I'll likely stay away from this one).
