    NCAA...What a joke...USC
It took the NCAA 4 years to get involved at USC. and it took a Federal investigation of Bush's extortion claim to get them to do any thing. See bush took money from agent1 then signed with agent2. agent1 wanted his money back and sued bush.....Bush cried extortion, uh oh thats a federal offense and the Feds got involved and uncovered numerous violations......even though the evidence had been thrown in our faces.....And now the NCAA cant move fast enough against other schools.

IMO the agents and the players involved need to be punished. something like agent 1st offense 2 year liscense suspension, 2nd offense lost liscense for ever. The player, you cant take a player's right to work but you can however fine the player say 10% of his first total contract....or keep them from signing with a team for at least a year.

maybe they should have a rule that as a senior they could have supervised contact with an agent...

For starters, that's mainly because Southern Cal didn't cooperate with the NCAA, while some of the schools now are cooperating. Also, unlike Southern Cal, the investigations do not involve the entire athletic program, just a few players.

As for the sports agents, they are regulated by each state. In South Carolina for example, agents can be fined up to $10,000 or even spend up to 3 years in prison. It's a felony in North Carolina.

This agent thing is getting out of control. It is hard for me to blame the players because they have very little cash as is and someone comes up throwing them some money of course they arent gonna say no. Its BS. I Hope that these Bama players are not too heavily involved where they wouldnt be able to play this year. I had a friend in Birmingham tell me yesterday that Julio Jones was also at this party with the agents. If so Bama is gonna take a major hit.

Lets hope these players from all schools can remain eligible. It would be sad to see some rogue agent ruin the final collegiate years for some of these players.

'Bama is going to take a it, along with other SEC Schools. 'Bama should have known better. They had their two guys take a free trip last year, and got burned. This time, it will be a lot tougher on 'Bama.

I dont think Bama can get into any trouble as long as the players are not playing in games. I think the players in question could be in trouble and could lose eligibility but as long as Bama reports the actions and doesnt let them play in the games then there is no way that Bama could be penalized or is there? Who knows with the NCAA, they seem like the most powerful force in the universe. They do what they want to who they want and when they want.

The moment they step on campus they are ALL told not to deal with agents. They know the consequences. I don't feel bad for them at all. All the players involved so far are about to get paid big time in April, just a selfish act on their part.

it's tough to punish the entire school and other players when only one player acted selfishly. in the case of USC, none of the current players were even at USC when all of this occurred yet they are the ones getting punished.

How can you stop a player from taking money from an agent though. College kid who wants to live the high life a few years sooner. It's hard for them to turn down.

They have the power to slap severe sanctions and can even shut programs down. Yet, they can't control how their national champion is crowned in football. That is the real mystery. And therefore, a true national champion has NEVER been crowned in the highest level of college football.

I'm still scratching my head. College football is simply a farm system where the kids have to play for free. And schools rake in millions for their efforts. That sounds fair to me. Sort of like a corporation is run. A CEO makes 400 times more than their average employee.

oh yeah, just like the players have there own dinning facility, special diet, the best tutors, the best work out facility, and numerous other perks the average student doesnt have. With greatness comes great responsibility.

it depends which schools you're talking about. some schools have terrible facilities so it doesn't make much of a difference between athlete and student facilities. regular students have the freedom to work hours to earn money and have much more time to study to get better grades in harder majors.
