Now I am a huge clemson tiger fan and I love the line on the tigers -7 against a struggling NC State team. With clemson's strong offense I don't see this being a problem. Now hold on this isn't the line I love the most. SC Gamecocks against LSU tigers!!! The bookies are giving the cocks 17 points. I hate the gamecocks but I will be dropping a big dime on the gamecocks. That just seems to be alot of points for 2 sec teams that are very strong???? I was going to see what everyone else thought about those two plays

# 1 defense in the country. And that 1 td will be good vs LSU?
I will go on the line and predict your QB Blake will be out of game by 3rd quarter.Comment -

#5I was dead on about Georgia last week and I feel good about covering this week. It will be tough to come out of LSU with a win but im taking the points in this one. Here's why:
LSU is a 17 point favorite this weekend. Steve Spurrier has coached 28 games at South Carolina. In those 28 games, South Carolina has lost by more than 7 points only 3 times: Alabama 37-14 in 2005, Auburn 48-7 in 2005, and Georgia 18-0 in 2006. The Bama and Auburn games were Spurrier's first two SEC games at Carolina, and before he had any real control over the program. Furthermore, the Auburn game was a complete throw away game, because Carolina's hapless back-up QB started the game due to injuries, and he called two timeouts before the first snap of the game. The team completely gave up on that game before it ever started. That means that in South Carolina's last 23 games, they have only lost by more than 7 points one time, and in their last 13 games, they have not lost by more than 7 points at all. In that Georgia game in 2006, South Carolina had absolutely no Offensive Line at all. This year's OL is much improved from the beginning of last year.
LSU is certainly the most talented team South Carolina will face this year, but consider that during this last 23 games, South Carolina has played 9 teams ranked in the Top 25, including #2 Auburn last year (lost 24-17) and #6 Florida in The Swamp (lost 17-16).
South Carolina has consistently played excellent on the road under Spurrier, compiling a 7-3 record on the road in the last two years, including wins against Tennessee, Arkansas, Clemson and Georgia, all on the road. This game will also be a day game, which takes away a significant crowd-noise advantage for LSU. There is a reason LSU fought hard to make this a night game!
South Carolina's defense has not allowed a single touchdown in the last 10 quarters, a span of 2 1/2 games.
Looking forward to a good game and ill be there to witness it.Comment -

PN,
My responses were to your questions/statements.
I did not say their defense is as good as LSU's, which is one of the best in the country. And, no, I do not think 1 TD will be good enough to win the game.
If Blake is out of the game by the 3rd quarter, it will be a very long day for the University of South Carolina Gamecocks.Comment -

#8I have a hunch that the LSU offense may be exposed a bit in this game so I have a lean toward South Carolina.
The question is: can SC make no mistakes on offense that will kill them? If SC makes offensive turnovers, LSU will cover because their defense is stellar.
I think if you can answer the question(s):"will the Gamecocks have one turnover or less in the game and/or will the Gamecocks score double digits in the game?" then you'll have your answer as to whether to bet LSU or South Carolina.
My two cents.

I believe the turnovers will be a factor.
The over / under on double digits fo SC
And will the LSU offense suffer without Doucet, and how healthy is Flynn.
I just think Blake will make too many mistakes early. Key is if LSU gets out early on them.Comment -

I believe this is a very valid response.
Blake is a big key; I guess I think more of Spurrier than most. I am thinking Spurrier can temper him from making a gaggle of mistakes.
The preceding bolded statements are extremely subjective. I do not know if I am right or wrong about Spurrier. We shall see on Saturday.

#11North Carolina is the only team in the state that I'm playing, I lean to NCST and LSU, but was hoping for more like 10 with NCST and really wouldn't lay over two touchdowns with Miles to Superior in all but the strangest circumstances.Comment -

#12He got beched early last year and did not respond till late in year coming off bench. Last week they had 5 or 6 turnovers against SC St. and Spurrier has already said if he struggles that Smeely will play. Not a ringing endorsement or pressure relief for him.Comment -

He got benched last year because the offensive line couldn't protect the quarterback. Spurrier went with a kid that had mobility, which Blake doesn't have. When the offensive line improved, Spurrier went back to Blake and he led them to wins at Clemson and in the bowl game.Comment -

#14I still stand by the prediction he will not finjsh the game. Their offense has shown nothing going into this game. Lsu has the best defense period.Comment -

He very well may not. If the Gamecocks are getting blown out, I wouldn't be surprised to see Spurrier pull Blake and get Smelly some reps.
But as long as Blake is healthy and Carolina is in the game, Blake will be the QB. Spurrier knows he's USC's best (and perhaps only) chance to win.
LSU has a very, very good defense. It is among the best in the country. The people on FGF, http://southcarolina.rivals.com/foru...=1017&fid=1825 , who are predicting a Carolina victory to the tune of 31-28 are, I'm afraid, going to be sadly mistaken.Last edited by Doc JS; 09-20-07, 04:34 PM.Comment -

#17Someone sent me this the other day. Im glad its a day game tomorrow....
Part of the lore of Tiger Stadium is the tradition of playing games at night, an idea that was first introduced in 1931 against Spring Hill (a 35-0 LSU victory). Last year, LSU celebrated its 75th year of playing night football in Tiger Stadium. Since that first night game in 1931, LSU has played the majority of its games at night and the Tigers have
fared much better under the lights than during the day. Since 1960, LSU is 202-59-3 (.771) at night in Tiger Stadium compared to a 19-22-3 (.432) record during the day over that span.
Im still on the gamecocks plus the points. If I lose, hopefully I can make it back that night in new olreans on the craps table.Comment -

I've always believed there is something to this stat. LSU on Saturday nights is a zoo. Not so much in the afternoon. Some theories would say that fans are drinking their hangovers off for the Sat night game and are still recovering from their hangovers during the Sat afternoon game.
LSU, in the past, has come out unbelievably flat in Sat afternoon games. I don't think that will be the case tomorrow, however.
