It could easily happen. Right now, two teams are certainly in the midst of serious consideration by the Big 10 and Pac 10. The Big 10 may amke a move on Missouri, and the Pac 10 will probably make a move on Colorado.
If both teams leave the Big 12 conference (and there is plenty of reason to believe that they would), then the Big 12 takes TCU and Houston. Your new line up looks like this:
North:
Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State.
South:
Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor, Houston, TCU.
To be perfectly frank, I like this line up better than the existing line up. It revives the OU-Nebraska Rivalry and gives the North some decent teams. It puts all 6 major Texas schools in the same divisionof the same conference. It certainly makes a lot of sense from a travel point of view.
I really hope that this comes to fruition. Perhaps the three conferences involved can look at this and see all the positives that will come from it. Then they can talk to their brothers from the ACC and SEC to either force the Big East to expand to 12 teams or dump them out of the BCS.
