Pac 10 to Replace Big 10 in Alamo Bowl
The Pac 10 has signed on to play the Big 12 in the Alamo Bowl, replacing the Big 10. This means that the Pac 10 and Big 12 will send top teams to two bowls, the Alamo and the Holiday Bowl, and probably a third bowl, the Sun Bowl. This also opens the door for the Big 10 to replace the Big East in the Gator Bowl.

With talk of a possible T.V. deal between the Pac 10 and Big 12 going on, and these bowl signings, it is aparent that the College Football world is headed for 5 "Super Conferences". The two in the West would be the Pac 10 (12) and the Big 12. The two in the South/South East would be the ACC and SEC. The Big 10 would expand to 12 and cover the Midwest past of the country. Basically this leaves the Big East out in the cold. They could expand to 12 teams by convincing Notre Dame to join the confernece, and taking teams like Temple, Buffalo, and Central Florida, but then what do they do with their overgrown hoops conference, that include non FBS Schools Villanova, Georgetown, Providence, Marquette, Seaton Hall, St. Johns an DePaul?

If the Pac-10 expands, it'll be interesting to see what two teams join.

They'd be getting BYU and Utah.

Highly doubt that. Too small of a television market to get both teams. The television deal is the whole reason to expand. Colorado and Utah seem more likely. I don't think there is any chance BYU would get asked.

Good for the Pac-10 to finally upgrade their tie-in's. Made the trip to San Antonio back when Michigan played Nebraska. Lot's of culture to that town that you can't find in Houston (Texas Bowl) or Dallas (new bowl - Dallas Football Classic).

They recently upped their payout to 3 million expecting to move up in the rotation, problem is that the Cap One and Outback are still ahead of them at 4.2 and 3.3 million respectively. After landing Michigan State and Northwestern the last two years, you can't blame them for ending the partnership.

Really hope we can get into the money train that is the Chick-fil-A Bowl someday.

As far as Pac 10 expansion is concerned, BYU is OUT. The Pac 10 does not want a school that is so religious, in it's Conference. It is really that simple. Utah is in. That gives the Pac 10 the greater Salt Lake viewing area. Colorado will most likely be the other team. That gives the Pac 10 the Denver area, the 8th latgest viewing area West of the Mississippi. Remember, the Pac 10 is exapnding to get more T.V. money. They may also start a Pac 10 Network, or a network in conjunction with the Big 12. Since the Pac 10 and Big 12 now play two to three bowl games against each other, this may be a logical step. Next season, the Pac 10 has 5 of it's 30 non-con games scheduled against the Big 12. In 2011, the Pac 10 has at least that many games scheduled with Big 12 teams, and some schedules are still incomplete.
