Buffalo Bulls (-1.5) @ Miami-Ohio Redhawks NCAA Free Pick: At this point you have to realize that anything can happen in College Football. And that it gets even crazier when you start playing games in the middle of the week at night on National Television. Neither of these teams are headed to a Bowl Game. Neither is winning anything in their conference, both have had disappointing seasons. But this one shouldn’t be difficult.
The Bulls are a much better team. They have lost their last three games by 3 points or less. They have 5 total losses this season by a touchdown or less. They’ve played some tough teams close. Miami-Ohio has one win, one close loss to the Temple Owls, and a bunch of tomato can performances.
This is being played on the road, where Buffalo is 1-3 on the season, but it’s not like Miami has been awesome at home either, they are just 1-3 there. Buffalo has a more efficient passing attack, a much better rushing attack and defensively they have played much better than the Redhawks.
The difference in Buffalo’s average points scored and points against is under 3. The difference in Miami’s average points for and points against is 18. Those numbers don’t always mean a lot, but without an offensive area to gang up on (the Bulls are too diverse) I don’t see Miami stopping Buffalo at all. Buffalo’s bad luck has to turn around, and I think it does against the Redhawks on Wednesday Night.

              Associated Press

              Line: Oklahoma State by 18.
              Series record: Colorado leads 26-18-1.
Last meeting: 2008, Oklahoma State 30-17.
              What's at stake
Oklahoma State clings to the slimmest of chances in the chase for the Big 12 championship. The Cowboys need to win out while also having No. 3 Texas lose its last two games. Otherwise, there's still a chance to sneak into an at-large Bowl Championship Series berth. Colorado is trying to stay out of last place in the Big 12 North.
              Key matchup
Colorado RB Rodney Stewart vs. OSU defense. The Buffaloes are 3-1 when Stewart runs for at least 100 yards, and 0-6 when he doesn't (including a loss to Toledo when he didn't play). Oklahoma State hasn't allowed a 100-yard rusher all season and ranks seventh in the nation against the run, giving up only 89.6 yards per game.
              Players to watch
Oklahoma State:QB Zac Robinson. The Colorado native left OSU's game last week with less than 2 minutes left after taking a hard hit and fumbling. Coach Mike Gundy has said he expects Robinson to play, but the Cowboys don't have an experienced backup.
Colorado: WR Marques Simas. A sophomore who was academically ineligible last year, Simas has broken through in the last two games with 14 receptions for 263 yards and a touchdown.
              Facts & figures
After allowing only four sacks in their first nine games, the Cowboys gave up three sacks in last week's win against Texas Tech. Colorado has allowed 38 sacks. ... The Buffaloes blanked Oklahoma State 34-0 in their last visit to Stillwater. It was Gundy's first Big 12 game as OSU's coach and the last time the Cowboys were shut out. ... Colorado has won six of its last seven games at OSU.

The next-to-last week of the regular season is approaching. Several games will be intriguing in the Big 12 with a big one settling the North Division title race set for Saturday night. It should be an intriguing week.

Here's a viewer guide to all of them. A four-star game means must-see television, and maybe even a game tape to be saved for posterity. Three-star games bear close observation. Two-star games are worth a quick glimpse or two for occasional score updates, but little more. And one-star games are indications that your time might be better spent getting your house ready for the in-laws to make their annual Thanksgiving Day appearance next week.

All starting times are Eastern for Saturday games, unless otherwise noted. Set your DVRs accordingly.

                Four-star games

Kansas State at Nebraska (7:45 p.m., ESPN 360): The battle for all of the North Division marbles has some intriguing stakes even bigger than just the game. Kansas State and Nebraska were the two strongest Northern powers in the early history of the league. Bill Snyder and Bo Pelini had that celebrated dust-up after the 2003 game. And Snyder's team has been the surprise of the North this season. Snyder is a wily coach but will have a tough challenge against the fierce Nebraska defense.

                Three-star games

Oklahoma at Texas Tech (12:30 p.m.): Oklahoma has struggled in its last two trips to Lubbock and will be playing to try to stop some recent bad karma on the road. Texas Tech's fluid quarterback situation might involve several playing again. Winner of this game likely is headed to the Alamo Bowl. Loser could drop to the Sun Bowl -- or below.

Kansas at Texas (8 p.m., ABC 360): This will be a sentimental game for Colt McCoy, Sergio Kindle, Jordan Shipley and the rest of the Texas seniors because it will be their last home game. Todd Reesing is coming home, too, after growing up in Austin. But this game might be most interesting to see how the "Fighting Manginos," as my colleague Rece Davis likes to call them, respond to all of the dysfunction around the program this week.

                Two-star games

Colorado at Oklahoma State (7:30 p.m., Thursday, ESPN/360): It will be interesting to see if Oklahoma State quarterback Zac Robinson can recover quickly enough from the massive head-to-head shot he took from Tech's Jamar Wall to be back out there this week. This is a giant opportunity for the Cowboys to show the nation their worthiness as a BCS at-large team. Colorado coach Dan Hawkins will be trying to show he deserves another season with the program.

Iowa State at Missouri (2 p.m.): Both these teams have qualified for bowl games, but both would like another victory to spruce up their bowl credentials. Iowa State's plucky, undersized secondary will be challenged to stick with Danario Alexander, who is playing like the second coming of Jerry Rice over the last several weeks. Alexander can tie an NCAA record with another 200-yard receiving game. I wouldn't bet against him -- especially considering he'll be playing against Iowa State's diminutive secondary.

Baylor at Texas A&M (3:30 p.m.): The winner of this "Battle of the Brazos" can take another step toward bowl eligibility with a victory. The Aggies will qualify outright with a triumph. Baylor needs to win this one and its game next week against Texas Tech to get there. The Bears will be battling two significant historic trends as they haven't been to a bowl game since 1994 and haven't won at Kyle Field since 1984. Both are pretty significant obstacles.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS: The last time an EMU played on Friday night was the 2008 season finale when the Eagles won a 56-52 shootout against Central Michigan University in a game played in Mount Pleasant.

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING: The EMU football team has a major presence on the national statistics scene through the first 10 games. As a team the Eagles are the fourth-ranked pass defense in the nation at 156.20 yards per game. Eastern fares even better on the Mid-American Conference front as a team, ranking first in pass defense and fourth in tackles-for-loss. Individually, senior safety Chris May (Jupiter, Fla.-Dwyer) is sixth in interceptions at .56 per game while senior linebacker Andre Hatchett (Indianapolis, Ind.-Warren Central) is tied for 16th in tackles-per-game at 10.00.

TWO IN A ROW FOR DOUBLE DIGITS: For the second game in a row the EMU defense came up with two players recording double-digit tackle totals in a game. In last Saturday’s, Nov. 14, EMU-WMU game redshirt sophomore linebacker Marcus English (Dayton, Ohio-Trotwood/Madison) and senior linebacker Andre Hatchett (Indianapolis, Ind.-Warren Central) both turned in 13 total tackles against the Broncos. In the previous game, Nov. 5, at Northern Illinois, redshirt sophomore Martavius Cardwell (Flint, Mich.-Carman Ainsworth) had 17 stops with Hatchett turning in 13. Hatchett also had one tackle-for-loss of one yard and an interception

EAGLES FOURTH IN PASS DEFENSE: The EMU pass defense, ranked first in the nation through most of the first six weeks, has slipped to fourth in the latest national rankings. The Eagles have allowed 156.20 yards per game this season.

MAY MAKES IT FIVE: Senior safety Chris May (Jupiter, Fla.-Dwyer) turned in his fifth interception of the season with a pick against Western Michigan last weekend, Nov. 14. May’s interception came on Western’s third play from scrimmage and led to an EMU touchdown.

GROUND AND AIR ATTACK: True freshman Alex Gillett (Green Springs, Ohio-Clyde) made his first start as an Eagle an impressive one in last Saturday’s, Nov. 14, 2009 home finale against Western Michigan. Gillett led the Eagles in rushing, with 105 yards on 26 carries and also scored on a four-yard run. In addition, Gillett completed 15-of-26 passes for 186 yards and a 12-yard touchdown strike to Kinsman Thomas (Bennettsville, S.C.-Marlboro County). Gillett has completed 39-of-82 passes for 420 yards and one touchdown and has rushed 61 times for 304 yards and one touchdown, while playing in seven games this year.

TWO FOR THOMAS: Freshman wide receiver Kinsman Thomas (Bennettsville, S.C.-Marlboro County) recorded his second receiving touchdown of the year when he made a leaping grab of an Alex Gillett (Green Springs, Ohio-Clyde) pass for a 12-yard score last weekend, Nov. 14, against a visiting Western Michigan squad. Thomas also led the Eagles in receiving against the Broncos with five catches for 47 yards. Thomas’ first touchdown reception was a 77-yard pass from quarterback Kyle McMahon (Rochester Hills, Mich.-Pontiac Notre Dame Prep) at Arkansas (Oct. 31).

THE INJURY SITUATION: The Eagles have suffered through some major injuries this season. Prior to the season beginning, starrting offensive tackle Bridger Buche (Portland, Mich.-Portland) was lost for the year with a hip injury. Starting quarterback Andy Schmitt (St. Johns, Mich.-St. Johns) was lost for the year after the Michigan game, Oct. 19. Staring safety Ryan Downard (Lima, Ohio-Shawnee) was injured in practice after the third game of the year and was out for the rest of the season. Starting offensive center Eric Davis (Southgate, Mich.-Anderson) was injured in the Northern Illinois game, Nov. 5, and will miss the final three games of the year while starting cornerback Johnny Sears (Fresno, Calif.-Edison) was also injured in that NIU contest and could be lost for the final three games. Starting punter Zach Johnson (Springboro, Ohio-Springboro) missed two games, Arkansas, Oct. 31, and NIU, but returned for last weekend’s, Nov. 14, WMU game. The Eagles have also lost other starters for individual games this year.
