I have been waiting all week for this line to go higher so I could jump on Middle Tennessee State. I see MTSU being a good sleeper team finally returning home after 3 road games in a row. But now I might jump ship and take Miss St. -4.5 after learning more about the matchup.

Bye week was bad week for Blue Raiders

A bye week is supposed to be one for players to let their hair down, so to speak. Instead, some MTSU players apparently let their guard down.
First, there was the Saturday night party that resulted in arrests of three players for alcohol offenses, including leading wide receiver Patrick Honeycutt, linebacker Gorby Loreus and reserve quarterback Nick Coleman.
All three practiced Tuesday, but Honeycutt had limited work while wearing a no-contact red jersey, as he has the last two weeks due to injury. MTSU coach Rick Stockstill said all three players are being punished, but he did not say if they will be available to play in Saturday’s home game against Mississippi State.
If they don’t play or play on a limited basis, it could hurt the Blue Raiders’ chances at an upset. Honeycutt is the team’s top target, and Loreus is in the linebacking rotation and an active special teams player.
And on Tuesday, quarterback Dwight Dasher and center Mark Thompson, both starters, practiced with the second team offense. Redshirt freshman Brent Burnette (quarterback) and junior Chris Hawkins (center) served as starters in their place. After practice, Stockstill would not say if Dasher and Thompson were starting Saturday.
No reason to speculate too much here, but there’s certainly cause for concern if the head coach can’t say his quarterback — especially one who ranks ninth nationally in total offense — is starting or even playing Saturday.
Starting running back D.D. Kyles was also practicing on the scout team Tuesday, though a reason was not given.
Add wide receiver Malcolm Beyah’s thumb injury that should keep him sidelined to the list, and it appears MTSU’s lineup could be hampered heading into arguably its most anticipated home game to date.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A lot of interesting dynamics taking place. Why hasn't this line moved more than a 1/2 point?
Is the coach just trying to prove a point to his team?
If you are a Miss. St. backer, then jump on it now before it moves in the wrong direction.
If you like MTSU, I would wait until game time before placing a wager.
