Transfer Age Makes 'Capping Much More Difficult
We have now entered the age of the QB transfer. Every season 10 or more QB's decide to transfer from one college to another. If you are a 2nd string QB with some potential at College "A", and College "B" needs a good starter, get your plane ticket and pack your bags. This is brought on by several reasons. One is obviously rules changes. Another is the huge number of potential Juniors and Seniors who leave school early for the NFL. The third is the fact that today's players are not nearly as good as the players of 10, 20, and 30 years ago. They simply do not need a lot of talent to compete with other "star" players.

This fits in very well with the NFL owners scheme of things. Get a young player for net to nothing. After his first 5 year contract is over, either sign him for cheap, or dump him and sign another rookie. The number of NFL "Veterans" is going to go down year after year. The plan is simple. Pay what you must for the legitimate good to great players and dump the rest of the veterans to save money.

What all this does is make it very difficult to pick which College Teams will be successful and which will not. Alabama's terrible failure in the CC game is proof enough that you just do not know. How will these young QB's who transfer from school to school fit in the new scheme of things? How will the young Freshmen and Sophomores who take their place fit in? How will the new Coaches fit in and what changes will be made? It will be much more difficult to pick teams in April to win games in September. The days of the easy picks (Alabama and Clemson in 2018) are over. Life is about to get a lot more complicated for gamblers now.

If we're struggling to figure this out, so are the books. There will be plenty of betting opportunities. We just have to learn to recognize them.

i'm guessing a key reason we like CFB betting and think it's beatable is that it's dynamic with constant change (unlike most pro leagues).

this just seems like more of the same........ the "Jalen Hurts might not be high scoring in Oklahoma" is a great example

College Football has gone the way of College Hoops. Plan on having most of your top players for 2-3 years tops. Because of this, the quality of play becomes worse. The fact that many of these players cannot spell their name also makes the product worse.

Not sure if it makes capping any more or less difficult, but college football as we once knew it has definitely changed. I'm just waiting for the day a coach leaves a school and takes about 15 kids with him.
