    Boise State's Ian Johnson Hospitalized
    By Associated Press

BOISE, Idaho - Boise State running back Ian Johnson, the nation's leader in touchdowns, is hospitalized with a partially collapsed left lung.

Johnson isn't expected to leave O'Connor Hospital in San Jose, Calif. until Tuesday, the school said. His status for Saturday's home finale against Utah State is uncertain.

"They're going slow as heck to make sure everything is good," Boise State head coach Chris Petersen said Monday morning. "Nothing has really changed since he went in there."

Johnson was injured sometime during Boise State's 23-20 win on Saturday at San Jose State. Johnson didn't speak to reporters after the game and was taken to the hospital for evaluation. He did not accompany the team back to Boise.

Petersen said when he got into the locker room, Johnson didn't feel well and was complaining of back pain. He was originally taken to the hospital to make sure it was not an injury to his spleen.

Petersen didn't rule Johnson out for Saturday's game.

"It's still up in the air, but we're not going to rush him," he said.

Johnson leads the country with 21 touchdowns and had 29 carries for 149 yards in the Broncos' victory on Saturday.

Boise State (10-0, 6-0 Western Athletic Conference) moved up to No. 13 in the Associated Press poll and was No. 12 in the BCS rankings released Sunday. If the Broncos finish in the top 12 of the final BCS poll, they would automatically qualify for one of the big-money bowl games, becoming the second team from a non-BCS conference to earn a berth. Thats a big blow for Boise St. A partially collapsed lung is nothing to fool with, and odds are he will be out for quite sometime.

As somebody who's had his lung collapse twice, I can tell you it's no fun and though I'm no supreme athlete, I'd be surprised to see him out there.

If the pneumothorax is small (10-15%), they'll give the lung a chance to re-inflate on its own. He would still be doubtful for this weekend.

If the pneumothorax is larger (>25-30 %), they'll put a chest tube in him and he won't be playing for a couple of weeks.

Does anybody know if he got a chest tube or not?

Are you a real doc, Doc JS? How about some free medical advice? Anything well work as long as it's free.

Utah St. won me some dough against San Jose St., but now I'm counting on them to get their asses kicked
