Virginia Tech opened with an easy win last week while North Carolina lost at home, but do not read much into that considering the competition.

The Hokies authoritative 38-0 victory came vs. Division I-AA Northeastern, while the Tar Heels lost to a very good Rutgers team 21-16 with a chance to win the game late. Virginia Tech also lost its starting left tackle Brandon Frye in the rout, meaning that they will have an inexperienced lineman protecting the blind side of the equally inexperienced quarterback Sean Glennon, who was named the starter after Marcus Vick was thrown off of the team. Sure Glennon looked great last week completing 15 of 18 passes, but this will be his first career start vs. a Division I school, and it comes as a double-digit road favorite no less.

North Carolina may have found a quarterback in its narrow loss as Joe Dailey passed for 234 yards while hitting on 24 of 36 attempts. A repeat of that performance should again open up some running lanes for Ronnie McGill, who ran for 94 yards on just 14 carries last week. If that happens, look for the Heels to play some ball control here. On the other side of the ball, UNC has a pass-rushing beast at defensive end in Hilee Taylor who is very capable of taking advantage of the young Hokie offensive line.

actually leaning the other way in this one...can't really trust John Bunting and I think Va. Tech's a little underrated here...
