I second drinking vodka & water (with fresh lime). Refreshing drink that pairs nicely with food and doesn't give you nasty hangovers when you start pounding them back (you get less dehydrated than using juice or soda as the mixer).

nowadays i'll only touch straight vodka if its goose or belvedere
whiskey is the way my friend
chivas or johnnywalker is my preference
