who had philly in 2008? NOBODY, they weren't even favored in the 1st round against milwaukee
2007 some people had the red sox but they weren't the favorite
2006 the cardinals were playing worse than any team in baseball in september before the playoffs, snuck in at .500 and won it
2005 nobody had the white sox

uhh yeah....

except for the fact that the giants haven't scored more than 4 runs in a game since sept 25th...

..and that September is when the current Phillies core of players succeeds..

..and that Pat Burrell is the only player on the Giants with any notable playoff experience..

..and that despite a solid rotation, statistically the Phillies staff is better..

dont get me wrong. i love the Giants and think that, just like the Reds, in upcoming years they can be a VERY successful team. but I just dont see this being the Giants' time to go on that big run, especially considering that the 2010 Phillies are much better than the 09 and 08 Phillies. And I dont think that you can argue that the Giants have a better staff than the Phils, man-for-man. Even if you wanna say that Halladay and Lincecum are close to even, are you going to really argue that Cain or Sanchez is better than Hamels or Oswalt? I think that would be verrrry silly.
