An ageless light heavyweight champion meets a young dynamo during UFC 275’s main event, as Glover Teixeira defends his crown against a streaking Jiri Prochazka. Check out our Teixeira-Prochazka picks ahead of this weekend’s main event.

In a meeting of the old light heavyweight guard and the new challanger, divisional fixture Glover Teixeira will close out the UFC’s return to Singapore with his first 205-pound title defense opposite blue-chipper Jiri Prochazka.

After compiling five hard-fought wins against younger competition in 2019-20, the 42-year-old Teixeira took a deserved shot at Jan Blachowicz’s strap this past October, shocking the champ with a second-round submission. As for the challenger on Saturday, Prochazka has been impressive with a pair of hellacious knockouts in as many walks to the Octagon. He now ends a 13-month layoff.

Will Teixeira’s veteran savvy and grappling skills keep his second wind going? Or will Prochazka make the defending titleholder the latest member of his extensive highlight reel?

Here are my Teixeira-Prochazka picks and predictions for Saturday’s light heavyweight tilt (odds via FanDuel Sportsbook and PointsBet; Pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Teixeira vs. Prochazka Odds Analysis

The Czech challenger heads to Singapore as the betting favorite, with FanDuel listing him at -215 and PointsBet offering Prochazka at -200.

Prochazka has notched over two dozen knockouts, so a win through strikes is certainly worth looking into. You’ll find decent value on the challenger earning another knockout at -125 through FanDuel.

This fascinating clash of styles is closer than the odds might indicate. If you’re banking on Teixeira’s formidable strength and top control leading him to victory, you’ll find an attractive +170 line through DraftKings.

Teixeira has earned a tapout win in four of his six straight victories. FanDuel is listing a tempting line on his most likely method of victory at +420.

Glover Teixeira Betting Profile

Count me among those who wrongly wrote Teixeira off as a shopworn vet following his brutal loss to Alexander Gustafsson in 2017.

He's defied both Father Time and detractors over his current six-fight win streak while beating younger, faster, and more athletic foes, earning wins over Ion Cutelaba, Anthony Smith, Thiago Santos, and Blachowicz, among others.

Teixeira needed to fight through early adversity during that stretch. But his patience, grappling, and smothering top control are serving him well, with five of his last six wins coming inside the distance. Tasked with defeating another dynamic striker on Saturday who's 13 years younger, Teixeira will need to lean on his wrestling and jiu-jitsu yet again to keep his age-defying ride alive.

Jiri Prochazka Betting Profile

Prochazka cemented himself as a veritable wild man and consistent purveyor of ultraviolence in Japan’s Rizin FF before joining the UFC in 2020.

The promising Czech striker has only taken to the Octagon twice during over two years with the promotion. But he made those trips count, defeating ex-title challenger Volkan Oezdemir at UFC 251 before outgunning another contender in Dominick Reyes for a second-round knockout in May 2021.

However, Prochazka is hittable and has been enjoying himself a little too much amid combat on several occasions. He’ll need to rein himself in and pick his shots if Prochazka aims to bring the UFC crown to Europe.

Teixeira vs. Prochazka Predictions

Prochazka to win (-200)

I can certainly see Teixeira extending his run and handing Prochazka his UFC comeuppance. But the challenger’s speed and unpredictable attack should end the Brazilian’s streak.

As the slower, plodding striker, Teixeira will need to eat some zingers if he wants to close the distance, bring the action to the mat, and fend off Prochazka to defend his throne. But while the champ has survived knockdowns while turning the tables on many younger foes, Prochazka will show Teixeira a bevy of feints and mix up both his angles and strikes to overwhelm the titleholder.

Prochazka by KO/TKO (-125)

He may love a firefight, but Prochazka has tightened up his game lately and is no longer walking chin-first into haymakers as often as he did in Rizin. Knowing Teixeira will need to put him on his back for any chance at defending the crown, the challenger should be more methodical in the early rounds, making Teixeira pay for every entry before eventually giving him the Gustafsson treatment for a 26th career knockout.
