Neither team has covered itself in glory entering an otherwise glorious occasion, with Man United and Tottenham reeling domestically, just above the dreaded drop zone. That's right, folks, we have a European final featuring two teams closer to relegation than the top half of the table. 

Then again, both teams prematurely waved the white flag on their domestic duties when a chance at European silverware and Champions League qualification presented itself.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is probably a dead man walking regardless of whether his Spurs win their first trophy since 2008. Love or hate him, Postecoglou has lifted Spurs to their first European final since they lost to Liverpool during the 2019 Champions League final.

The Aussie doesn't lack confidence after saying in September, “I always win things in my second year.” Well, he's one win away from doing exactly that.

Under normal circumstances, I'd say back Postecoglou and his Spurs to end the drought, as Tottenham won all three previous matches against United this season.

But (and there's always a but where Spurs are concerned), Dejan Kulusevski, James Madison, and potentially Lucas Bergvall won't be available for Tottenham.

The former two are the most creative forces in midfield, with Madison more often than not the maestro pulling the strings.

Plus, club captain Son Heung-min isn't back to full match sharpness after recently returning from a foot injury. That's too much to overcome against a Red Devils team with a knack for winning these grandiose encounters.
