We're getting down to the nitty-gritty in the group stage as I offer my Champions League predictions for Matchday 5, featuring Juventus, Sporting Lisbon, and Borussia Dortmund. 

Juventus needs a win to keep its hopes alive, while Borussia Dortmund and Sporting Lisbon look to continue their push for the knockout phases.

Here are my Champions League predictions for Matchday 5.

Borussia Dortmund vs. Villarreal: Borussia Dortmund ML (-120) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Borussia Dortmund is winless in its previous three matches in all competitions. However, they are undefeated at home, winning three of five in the Bundesliga while defeating Athletic Club 4-1 in the Champions League. 

Points are precious at this juncture of the competition, with Borussia Dortmund on the bubble on seven. Three points at home will be critical if they intend to qualify for the knockout stages.

Villarreal, meanwhile, has sputtered in the Champions League, losing three and tying one. 

They lost both road matches by the same 1-0 score. The odds for Borussia Dortmund to win range from -120 to -135, with FanDuel offering the former. Those odds imply a 54.55% probability, and a winning $10 bet will profit $9.09.

Sporting Lisbon vs. Club Brugge: Sporting Lisbon ML (-140) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Sporting Lisbon has lost just one of nine home matches across all competitions, a 1-0 setback to Liga Portugal leaders FC Porto. They won both Champions League matches at the Estádio José Alvalade, beating Marseille and Kairat Almaty by a combined 6-2. 

They host a Club Brugge team that struggles on enemy terrain. While the Belgian team has taken four of six points at home, Club Brugge lost both matches on the road by a combined 6-1. They lost 2-1 to Atalanta and 4-0 to Bayern Munich. 

I expect those road woes to continue against a confident Sporting Lisbon side that, with a win, would be in a prime spot to qualify for the knockout phases.

Juventus' Champions League lives hang in the balance, as it needs a road victory against Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt to keep hopes of advancing to the knockout phases alive. 

Bodø/Glimt has been one of the surprising outfits of the group stage, tying Tottenham at home while losing a tightly contested match (1-0) to Monaco. While Bodø/Glimt is much more confident at Aspmyra Stadion, I expect Juventus to scrap and claw its way to three points.

The Old Lady hasn't been the best on the road thus far, losing 1-0 to Real Madrid while tying Villarreal 2-2. However, their experience in this competition should serve them well against a team competing in its first Champions League. 

The odds for a Juventus away victory range from +110 to +120, with FanDuel offering the latter. Those odds imply a 45.45% probability, and a winning $10 bet will profit $12.
