The start of the 2022-23 Premier League season is just around the corner when Crystal Palace take on Arsenal on August 5. Manchester City are the preseason favorites for the sixth straight season, but there are some familiar names around them that are looking to lift the trophy.

With a longer season than usual because of the World Cup break, squad depth may be as crucial as ever. And as usual in the odds chart, there is a clear group of "haves" and "have nots."

Here are our top Premier League futures picks before the start of the season (odds via DraftKings SportsbookFanDuel Sportsbook, and Caesars Sportsbook).

2022-23 Premier League Predictions

Tottenham (+1600)

Of any team inside the "Big Six" that oddsmakers give a legit chance to win the league, it is Tottenham that intrigues me the most.

Spurs spent big in the transfer window thus far, acquiring Brazilian forward Richarlison from Everton and Yves Bissouma from Brighton. They also signed Ivan Perisic on a free transfer, a player who manager Antonio Conte knows well from his time at Inter Milan and can play out as an outside midfielder in his preferred 3-4-3 formation.

Conte led a remarkable turnaround once taking over on Nov. 2. In eighth place then, they stormed up the table to finish fourth in a UEFA Champions League spot, two points above bitter rivals Arsenal. That run included a 3-2 win back on Feb. 19 at home against Manchester City, a game in which they had just 28% possession but five shots on target to City's four, showcasing Conte's counterattacking philosophy that will be on full display this season.

Conte has built his reputation as a manager for quickly taking a team and turning it around. He did it at Juventus (starting a decade-long cycle of success), at Inter Milan, and in the Premier League with Chelsea. With a full preseason to prepare his team, Tottenham should be in the mix for the title right until the end.

Leeds to be relegated (+230)

It should come as no surprise that the three favorites to be relegated at our top-rated sportsbooks — Bournemouth, Fulham, and Nottingham Forest — are the three teams just promoted to the Premier League. But traditionally one of the three newly promoted teams manages to scratch and claw its way to safety, leaving a spot for another lower table team to take its place.

This season, that role could be filled by Leeds United. They survived last season by the skin of their teeth, winning 2-1 on May 22 against Brentford with a 94th-minute winner from Jack Harrison. Selling your two best players in Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips is never a good recipe for survival, and replacing them with two young and relatively unproven players in Brenden Aaronson and Tyler Adams is a risky decision.

American manager Jesse Marsch achieved short-term success by keeping them up, but a full-season survival campaign is a completely different beast.

West Ham to finish Top 4 (+1600)

You wanna get nuts? Let's get nuts.

West Ham have been knocking on the door of the top four over the past two seasons, finishing two points out in 2020-21 and in seventh in 2021-22. They've made some solid signings in the summer transfer window thus far, adding promising Italian striker Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo and Nayef Aguerd from State Rennais. Scamacca allows manager David Moyes to play two up top with Michail Antonio, and by keeping Declan Rice they've assured themselves of a lot of continuity going into a new campaign.

City and Liverpool are probably near-locks to finish in the top four, but the other two spots are very much up in the air. Games against City, Tottenham, and Chelsea within the first six contests of the season make for a tough start, but this should be shorter than the current listed price considering a team like Manchester United is as low as +140 on DraftKings.
