🏒 Wild vs. Stars Prediction & Odds for Game 2: NHL Picks Today (April 20)

I'm in on the Wild to win the Stanley Cup, and after a dominate Game 1, I'm expecting much of the same tonight on the road.
Minnesota Wild left wing Matt Boldy (12) talks to defenseman Quinn Hughes - who's featured in my Wild vs. Stars prediction - during a stoppage.

πŸ† Who will win Game 2 between Wild vs. Stars?

I think you have to run with the Wild in Game 2 following a lopsided offensive performance going up against shaky goaltending. The Wild led in expected goals (all situations) in Game 1 and were largely helped by incredible goaltending from Jesper Wallstedt. While I'm expecting a closer game, the Wild will take one more step toward the stranglehold.

Score prediction: Wild 3, Stars 2 (+1300)

πŸ’° Wild vs. Stars player prop bet for Game 2

Quinn Hughes Over 0.5 assists (-128)

Hughes was all over the ice in Game 1. He skated for close to 25 minutes and either had a hand in Minnesota finding the back of the net or was on the ice for it. Finishing with an assist and a plus-3 mark, Hughes will once again be buzzing in his second playoff game with his new team. The sheer volume of ice time helps, and the fact the potent power-play unit runs through him also helps.

Dallas also hates to see him coming: in his four games against the Stars this year, Hughes has tallied five assists. We love what we see here, and I'd play this down to -140.

πŸš€ Wild vs. Stars same-game parlay

I have the Wild winning a relatively low-scoring Game 2, 3-2. If the Wild tack on three more tonight, you better believe Hughes will play a part in doing so.

πŸ’‘ How I'm betting Wild vs. Stars

Follow all of our NHL analysis and expert predictions this season.

I think you can take one look at Game 1 and understand why it's worth taking the Wild at plus-money here.

It was the most lopsided victory of the NHL playoffs to date, backed by incredible goaltending from the St. Paul Wall. Will we see that again? Probably not. But his 1.7 goals saved above expected in Game 1 was no fluke. Expect him and the Wild's lethal power play to get the job done once more tonight. I'd price this one closer to -115, so I'm deploying two units on it as a result.
