There are some exquisite betting opportunities despite just two games on the docket. My NHL predictions today feature three player props and a bonus pick, most of which come from the mouthwatering contest in Canada’s capital.

Brady Tkachuk returns to Ottawa for the first time since being dealt to the Florida Panthers, and I can’t wait to see how he reacts. You’ll notice I expect him to make a tidal-wave splash. He’s featured alongside Tim Stutzle and one of the league’s most productive shooters, Tage Thompson.

NHL best bet today

Brady Tkachuk Over 0.5 assists (+140 via FanDuel)

If you haven’t heard, tonight is kind of a big deal in Ottawa, with the former Senators’ captain making his not-so-triumphant return. And wouldn’t it be fitting for Tkachuk to make a massive, unwanted splash?

Tkachuk is on a roll, too. He notched four assists in the previous four games, including two against the Seattle Kraken on Oct. 17. Scoring 18 goals in the previous three games, the Panthers enter the matchup on fire. They’re also well-rested, as they haven’t played since Saturday.

Brady Tkachuk Over 0.5 assists (+140 via FanDuel)

I’m pretty sure Tkachuk will enjoy an unforgettable night in his return. The question is whether he’ll score, assist or get one of each. I’m banking on the latter, so I’m locking in an anytime goal prop.

Tkachuk netted hat tricks in consecutive games against the Columbus Blue Jackets and Vancouver Canucks after going six games without a goal to start his tenure with the Panthers.

More NHL picks & predictions

Tim Stutzle Over 0.5 assists (-105 via FanDuel)

Despite not being named captain, Stutzle has maintained, even elevated, his elite play since Tkachuk’s departure. He has started the campaign with seven assists in nine games, notching a helper in seven contests.

While Stutzle hasn’t been productive against the Panthers, tallying one assist in the previous five meetings, he is fresh. Like the Panthers, the Sens haven’t played since Saturday.

In addition, he has scored only two points on an anemic power play that ranks fourth-worst (12.8%), and I expect some positive regression on that front.

Tage Thompson Over 3.5 shots (+122 via FanDuel)

Thompson has 42 shots on goal, the third-most in the league. He has at least four shots in seven of nine contests and four of five at home.

In the last two games, he accumulated 11 shots on goal on 15 attempts. Despite registering a single shot on goal against the Montreal Canadiens on Oct. 13, Thompson had seven attempts.

He’s averaging 4.7 shots per game and faces the Philadelphia Flyers, who allow the second-most per game (32.3) and the third-most on the road (32.8).
