The countdown is almost over as I offer my USA vs. Canada anytime goal-scorer predictions for Sunday's Olympic hockey gold medal game (8:10 a.m. ET, CBC, NBC).
Who will rise to the occasion and score the biggest goal of their career? I'm featuring three players who have the best chance of lighting the lamp, including two from the return of the Mac line and Team USA's Jack Hughes.

🥅 Best USA vs. Canada anytime goal scorer pick today
Macklin Celebrini (+170)
The tournament's leading goal scorer has been a revelation for Canada despite being just 19 years old. Celebrini has five goals and scored the opener against Czechia in the quarterfinal.
Playing with McDavid has made his threat even more formidable. He had 12 shots in the two elimination games, eight of which were against Finland in the semifinal. Expect his effervescence and unparalleled energy to be on full display on Sunday morning. I'd play this bet to +160.

🔥 More USA vs. Canada goal scorer picks
Connor McDavid (+155)
I'm gobsmacked McDavid doesn't have more than two goals. He leads Canada with 24 shots on goal, but has a shooting percentage of only 8.3. That's well below his season average (15.5%) in the NHL with the Edmonton Oilers.
I'm expecting some positive regression from the world's most lethal offensive player. In case you're wondering, I also backed his linemate, Nathan MacKinnon, to score in my Canada vs. USA prediction.
Jack Hughes (+350)
I'm riding with the hot hand as Hughes scored two of his three goals in the semifinal. He's tied with three others for the most goals on the team. Hughes has three goals on 12 shots, good for a 25 shooting percentage. That's tied for second-best with Noah Hanifin, who has just four shots on goal.
I'd play this bet to +325.
💡 How I'm betting USA vs. Canada
Celebrini and McDavid haven't taken a step back all tournament and have been Canada's best players throughout. If anything, I expect them to raise their level again for the showcase event. I put a full unit on those bets due to my increased confidence level.
With chances expected to be at a premium, I'm looking for a Team USA player who has been ruthlessly efficient in front of the goal. Hughes fits the bill as he is tied for the team lead in goals despite being tied for ninth in shots on goal. Each unit represents a $10 bet.
