Maple Leafs vs. Red Wings Player Props Today: NHL Best Bets for Saturday

Long-time rivals Toronto and Detroit renew acquaintances tonight at Little Caesars Arena (7 p.m. ET, ESPN+ and Sportsnet), and our Maple Leafs vs. Red Wings player props feature three NHL best bets on the action.
My favorite of these NHL picks is on Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin to crack the scoresheet after criticizing his team’s performance in an ugly 5-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday.

⬆️ Dylan Larkin Over 0.5 points (-150) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Larkin was one of the few Red Wings who played well in Thursday’s 5-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens. He provided Detroit’s lone goal, attempted six shots, hit the net on five of them and was a plus-1 on the evening.
But the biggest reason I’m interested in backing Larkin is the way the captain called out his teammates after they were booed off the ice against Montreal. Look for Larkin to lead by example tonight facing a team he has thrived against in the past, collecting 12 points in the last 10 meetings.
You can find -150 odds on Larkin over 0.5 points at both BetMGM and Caesars, a nice discount from the -162 price at FanDuel. The -150 odds imply a 60% probability Larkin cracks the scoresheet tonight, with a payout of $6.67 on a $10 wager.
🔥 Bobby McMann anytime goal scorer (+350) ⭐⭐
It didn’t take long for McMann to reap the rewards of playing with John Tavares and William Nylander on Toronto’s second line. He scored one minute into the Leafs’ 5-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday and attempted four shots on the night, including a pair of medium-danger unblocked attempts.
Tavares and Nylander were also productive on Wednesday, combining for four points, so we should expect to see the trio together again tonight. At FanDuel’s generous +350 price - implying just 22.22% probability - I’ll take a shot at McMann finding the net for the second time in as many games. A winning $10 wager nets $35.
⬇️ Auston Matthews Under 3.5 shots (-125) ⭐⭐
Matthews anytime goal scorers got bailed out Wednesday with a late empty-netter, but it wasn’t an impressive season debut for Toronto’s star sniper. The empty net goal was Matthews’ lone shot on net of the night and his 30% Corsi rating was among the worst on the team. That’s an alarming start for a player who entered the game averaging 5.7 shots on goal in season openers.
I’m of the opinion that it will take Matthews some time to adjust to life without departed wingman Mitch Marner. Matthews seems to feel the same, telling TSN on Friday that his first game with Matias Maccelli on the right wing was “OK” and that he just wants to “take steps in the right direction.”
Fading Matthews isn’t the most fun bet in the world, but until he builds better chemistry with Maccelli, I’ll look for spots to do it. The -125 odds at DraftKings suggest a 55.56% chance he records less than four shots on net tonight, with a potential profit of $8 on a $10 wager.
