Monday brings five games to the NHL schedule, including premier matchups in Edmonton and Colorado. Read on for our top NHL best bets for Monday based on the best NHL odds.

The first place Boston Bruins will visit prohibitive Hart Trophy favorite Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers. McDavid is having a phenomenal season. Can he step up against a team that has been running over the opposition all season. 

There are other compelling matchups Monday. The Vegas Golden Knights meet the Colorado Avalanche in a game between teams that have legitimate hopes to represent the Western Conference in the Stanley Cup Final.

Spread: Canucks +1.5 vs. Stars (-110 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

There are no ticker-tape parades planned just yet, but the Vancouver Canucks are playing better since hiring Rick Tocchet as head coach.

In 13 games with Tocchet as head coach, the Canucks are controlling 52.3% of five-on-five score-and-venue-adjusted expected goals, which ranks ninth. Under Bruce Boudreau, they ranked 27th with 44.5%.

They are still just 5-6-2 under Tocchet, but only five of those 13 games were multi-goal losses.

While the Dallas Stars remain in first place atop the Central Division, they have a 3-3-5 record in the past 11 games and two of the three wins have come by shootout. Thus, multi-goal wins have not been part of the Stars' m.o. over the past month.

FanDuel has the best puck line price for the Canucks, with standard -110 juice. Caesars, BetMGM, and PointsBet are at -115 with DraftKings at -120. That is certainly enough incentive to make this wager at FanDuel. 

Upset: Red Wings ML vs. Senators (+115 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Two teams hoping to squeeze into an Eastern Conference playoff spot meet in Ottawa.

The Red Wings have won seven of their past nine games, climbing to within three points of the second Wild Card spot, with one game in hand on the Pittsburgh Penguins.   

Over the past month, the Ottawa Senators have vaulted into contention for a playoff spot, going 8-3-1 in the past 12 games. They are seven points behind Pittsburgh with one game in hand.

The Sens are also likely to showcase goaltender Cam Talbot, who may still have some value before the NHL Trade Deadline. Nevertheless, Talbot has a .890 save percentage in his past 12 games and that is an opening for the Wings to exploit.

There is nearly universal agreement on the Red Wings moneyline price, with DraftKings coming in at +115.

Total: Golden Knights-Avalanche Under 6 (-115 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐

Injuries have kept the Colorado Avalanche down for much of the season, but they are getting healthy and have a 13-2-2 record in the past 17 games.

In their past 15 games, the Avalanche have hit a total of six goals or less 11 times. While they have outstanding offensive talent, they can also play a tight-checking game like a championship team.

The Avs go into this matchup with the Vegas Golden Knights, who are in first place in the Pacific Division. The Golden Knights have one regulation loss in their past 11 games and, like the Avs, have hit a total of six goals or less 11 times in the past 15 games.

Most of our top-rated sportsbooks have Under 6 priced at -120, with PointsBet at -121, but DraftKings has the best on the board at -115. That is enough of an edge to guide your betting decision.

Prop: Troy Terry anytime goal (+186 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Blackhawks and Ducks are two of the worst defensive teams in the league, so let's find a goal scorer.

Ducks right winger Troy Terry erupted for a career-high 37 goals last season, scoring on 19.3% of his shots. That was an unsustainably high percentage but his shooting percentage only bumped up over 10% this season with goals in back-to-back games. He could still fairly expect some positive regression in that area.

Chicago ranks 25th in road goals against average (3.42) and their underlying numbers are even worse, ranking 30th in expected goals against per 60 minutes (3.75). They also rank 30th in goals against per 60 minutes during four-on-five play.

There is mostly agreement on the price for a Terry anytime goal. FanDuel offers it at +186, which is better than DraftKings, BetMGM, and PointsBet, all at +180. Caesars is in its own world here, pricing a Terry anytime goal at +145.
