The Vancouver Canucks are a win away from their first Western Conference final since 2011 as they get ready for Saturday's Game 6 against the host Edmonton Oilers, and we have you covered with our Canucks-Oilers predictions based on the best NHL odds

The Vancouver Canucks secured a Game 5 victory with a late goal from J.T. Miller, echoing their previous late-game heartbreak against the Edmonton Oilers in Game 4. With this win, the Canucks now lead the series 3-2 and are on the verge of advancing to the final four.

Despite this crucial win, Edmonton remains the heavy favorite to triumph in Game 6 and force a decisive Game 7, according to Betway and our other best sports betting sites. The puck drops in Edmonton, Alberta, at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN. Interestingly, the Canucks' Stanley Cup odds remain longer than the Oilers', even after their pivotal Game 5 victory.

Here are our best Canucks vs. Oilers predictions and NHL picks (odds via our best NHL betting sites; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Canucks vs. Oilers predictions for Saturday

Under 7.5 goals and Oilers ML ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Oilers are 3-0 after losses in the 2024 playoffs. They are collectively resilient and have shown a bounce-back ability like a ping-pong ball off the racket of Forrest Gump. While it won't be easy, the Oilers should acquit themselves with a level of desperation comparable to a die-hard Taylor Swift fan finding it impossible to procure an Eras Tour ticket.

Their 3-2 home record combined with Vancouver's 4-1 mark on the road doesn't inspire a ton of confidence. However, the Oilers were one of the most dominant forces on home ice during the regular season and should feel confident about playing at Rogers Place with their back firmly against the wall.

Backing the Oilers solely on the moneyline doesn't offer enough value, so I'll combine it with an Under 7.5. Only Game 1 had eight goals or more, reinforcing the likelihood of a Game 6 Under. The -110 odds represent an implied probability of 52.38%, and a winning $10 bet pays a profit of $9.09, per our odds converter.

Zach Hyman anytime goal ⭐⭐⭐

Hyman is overdue for a goal more than the Calgary Flames for a successful playoff run. Aside from a ghost-like Game 5, Hyman has done absolutely everything except for lighting the lamp. He has fired 17 shots on Arturs Silovs since netting two in the series opener, but he's been snakebitten since.

Teammate Connor McDavid will be in a particularly defiant mood, which should facilitate more scoring chances for Hyman. At -118, Betway's odds have an implied probability of 54.13%. A $10 bet will profit $8.47 if it hits.

Best odds: -118 via Betway

Leon Draisaitl anytime goal ⭐⭐⭐⭐

If there's one player besides McDavid who should show up in a win-or-go-home scenario, it's Draisaitl.

The Oilers' forward leads the NHL in playoff points, notching 21 points in 10 games. He has eight goals in 10 encounters and three in five games against the Canucks, including a goal in both games at Rogers Place. Motivation won't be an issue for Draisaitl, one of the most productive performers in Edmonton's illustrious playoff history.

That's saying something when compared to Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Jari Kurri, and, of course, McDavid. He'll need to put the team on his back if the Oilers are to avoid elimination. The -106 odds at Betway imply a 51.46% probability and pay a profit of $9.43 on a $10 winning bet.

Best odds: -106 via Betway
