I explore and analyze which players will rise to the grandest occasion in my Canada vs. USA player props for Sunday's Olympic hockey gold medal game (8:10 a.m. ET, NBC, CBC).

Canada is the -125 moneyline betting favorite, shortening from an opening line of -106. I'm headlining the irrepressible and indomitable Connor McDavid, who has the most points (13) at an Olympics featuring NHL players. I've also featured Quinn Hughes and somebody who would go down as an unlikely hero, at least comparatively, Tom Wilson.

💰 Best Canada vs. USA player prop bet today

Connor McDavid Over 1.5 points (+132)

If anyone can score two points in what should be an incredibly tight and highly contested final, it's McDavid.

No. 97 set a record for most points in an Olympics featuring NHL players. He has a ridiculous 13 points in five games, including four in the quarter and semifinals.

He scored the overtime winner against Team USA in last year's 4 Nations Face-Off final and is at the center of most dangerous Canadian forays. I'd play this bet to +120.

🚨 Canada vs. USA prediction

I offer my Canada vs. USA prediction for Sunday's final, which includes another goal-scorer prop.

🔥 More Canada vs. USA player prop picks

Quinn Hughes 1+ points (-108)

Despite leading Team USA with seven points in five games, he has the second-longest odds on the board at FanDuel to score one point or more. The only player with better odds? His brother, Jack (+102), who also represents an excellent pick.

Quinn has been superb on the blue line, and he'll log a ton of minutes in the final. He quarterbacks the second-best power play in the tournament, and he has three points in the previous three games against Jordan Binnington.

Tom Wilson anytime goal (+650)

Doesn't it feel like the type of game where an unheralded player comes up with an unforgettable moment?

While the probability of Wilson scoring is comparatively low via the odds at FanDuel (13.33%), I love the matchup for the rugged 31-year-old. In a lot of ways, it's a like-for-like matchup against Charles McAvoy, Matthew and Brady Tkachuk, Jaccob Slavin, and Co.

Wilson is a beast in front of the net, and he will not be afraid or deterred by what Team USA has to combat his unique presence. He has one goal at the Olympics and 23 in 50 for the Washington Capitals, leading Alex Ovechkin by one despite playing nine fewer games.

And I adore his newly formed line with Sam Bennett and Brad Marchand, which was on the ice for Shea Theodore's equalizer against Finland and was dangerous almost immediately after being assembled.

💡 How I'm betting Canada vs. USA

Considering he is the top American scorer at the Olympics, Hughes is being undervalued. Other than his brother, nobody on either team offers that high a potential profit to score a point.

That's a critical factor in selecting player props for the final, as I expect a low-scoring game where scoring 2 points or more will be incredibly challenging. McDavid is the exception to that rule.

Wilson's physical, get-under-your-skin style is conducive to scoring against a team that shares many similarities, and he looks reinvigorated with his new linemates. Finding value in shot props for the final is a fruitless endeavor. Each unit is a $10 bet.
