Who Will Win the NFC?

Eagles (+1100)

Can you hear that? It's the sound of confidence coming out of Philadelphia Eagles camp as the team prepares to kick off the 2022 season.

Not long ago, the opening of Eagles camp featured controversy of some sort, whether it was under center or on the sideline. But the Eagles have avoided off-field theatrics this time around. And after claiming a surprising wild-card berth in 2021, this club looks poised to take a huge leap forward.

With a deep and talented offensive line in front of him, Jalen Hurts is eyeing a golden opportunity to establish himself as an elite quarterback. He emerged as a dual-threat option in 2021, compiling 3,144 passing yards and 16 touchdown tosses, along with 744 rushing yards and 10 scores on the ground.

Of course, Philadelphia's running game could use a full season with Miles Sanders healthy. He's been limited to 12 games in each of the past two seasons. Sanders being on the field would certainly help cement the Eagles as the league's top rushing team.

Hurts will also benefit from the team acquiring A.J. Brown, who arrives in Philadelphia after two seasons with 1,000-plus receiving yards in Tennessee.

The Eagles also head into the season facing one of the league’s easiest schedules. They're a -130 bet through BetMGM to win over 9.5 games. And with aging signal-callers leading each of the top three teams in the NFC, a changing of the guard could be at hand.

Packers (+500)

The Packers’ prospects for success begin and end with star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, but they're still very much in contention to win the NFC.

Rodgers demonstrated his ability to carry this team in 2021 despite the departure of key offensive linemen. A rash of injuries to receivers also failed to shake the future Hall of Famer, as he topped 4,000 passing yards for the 10th time in his career. Following a controversial 2021 campaign and another offseason filled with speculation about his future in Green Bay, expect Rodgers to return with a chip on his shoulder.

The path to a Super Bowl is not without its challenges. The departure of top receiver Davante Adams and the steady improvement of division rivals likely puts a third straight 13-win season out of reach for the Packers. Lean toward the Under on this team's 11.5 win total.

But Green Bay's home schedule begins with four games against opponents that combined for just 24 wins in 2021. That includes the New York Jets, New York Giants, and Chicago Bears. The Packers are still poised to claim one of the top playoff seeds in the NFC.

Buccaneers (+350)

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made a surprising early exit from the playoffs with a 30-27 loss to Los Angeles in the NFC divisional round. But with Tom Brady returning for at least one more season, the Bucs remain a strong favorite to reach the Super Bowl for the second time in three years.

The Buccaneers are once again embracing a dream team approach. Rob Gronkowski retired, but the team signed receivers Julio Jones and Russell Gage to fill that void.

Injuries remain a massive concern as Week 1 approaches. Both Gage and Chris Godwin have struggled with issues during training camp. Tampa Bay's offensive line has also been diminished, with center Ryan Jensen, guard Nick Leverett, and tackle Robert Hainsey sidelined.

That combination of injuries and aging superstars will likely force new head coach Todd Bowles to carefully manage the workload of his key personnel. Accordingly, the Bucs return to action getting -135 odds to win under 11.5 games through BetMGM.

The first month of the season features dates with the Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, Green Bay Packers, and Kansas City Chiefs. Bettors may want to remain patient before wagering on Tampa.
