💰 Cowboys vs. Commanders weather: Betting impact for Christmas Day

It's hard to ask for better weather in an East Coast football game in late December than what we'll get to kick off the NFL Christmas Day slate today at 1 p.m. ET.

The latest forecast at Northwest Stadium projects temperatures in the low 50s at kickoff and dropping to the mid-40s by the fourth quarter, and there isn't expected to be rain or snow. The biggest issue for these teams might be a mild breeze heading to the northwest end of the stadium, but even that isn't expected to exceed 12 mph.

So what does that mean for the outcome? Here's how I'd consider the weather when betting on Cowboys vs. Commanders?

Cowboys vs. Commanders weather impact

  • Fire away on the passing game. Outdoor games this late in the season can often pose threats to the deep passing game - or to throwing the football at all. No such liabilities exist today, which should clear the way for Dak Prescott to tear up this Commanders secondary. We're expecting him to get off to a hot start with our Cowboys vs. Commanders player props.
  • No concerns for big kicks. While 8 mph winds aren't nothing, they certainly aren't enough to deter the most powerfuls legs around the league. That's especially true for Brandon Aubrey, who should have no trouble helping Dallas' offense stay on track today with mild winds in the forecast.
  • The Over is in play. The game features the highest total of Christmas Day (by far), largely fueled by Dallas' explosive passing game and both teams' generous defenses. There's nothing in the forecast that discourages me from expecting a high-scoring affair today - our Esten McLaren breaks down his favorite anytime touchdown scorer predictions for Cowboys vs. Commanders.
