The Eagles have found themselves playing a string of weather-impact games in national TV spots, and they could stumble into another today with bitter cold temperatures and wind gusts expected to reach up to 30 mph.
While Philly's game plan plays well into the conditions, they could still impact the overall game script and expected outcomes for this Black Friday matchup. Here's how I'd consider the weather when betting on Bears vs. Eagles:
- Kicking could be trouble. As is the case any time there are major winds expected during a football game, special teams could be the biggest victim. We've already seen kickers have their field-goal attempts foiled this year by extreme winds, so don't be surprised if we see less accurate kicks tonight or coaches opting against long attempts entirely in favor of a fourth-down conversion attempt.
- Running backs could shine. If all is well, the Eagles already lean heavily into the run game behind Saquon Barkley and a star-studded offensive line. That could be even more of the case today if the wind, which is expected to sit at 15 mph at kickoff, reaches those extreme gusts that could make passing difficult for both sides.
