Friday’s college basketball player props

Jalen Bridges Under 10.5 points vs. Florida (-110 via bet365) ⭐⭐⭐

Jalen Bridges has scored in double figures in consecutive games, and he posted his two best individual offensive ratings (per KenPom) largely because he has found his stroke from beyond the arc.

Bridges has made 4-of-7 3-pointers and averaged 13 points per game over the last two games, but he better make his living from outside in this game, as Florida is the best interior defensive team that Baylor has faced all season.

The Gators rank in the top 70 in 2-point percentage allowed (45.1%) and just held Pittsburgh’s Blake Hinson to 16 points (his second-lowest output of the season) and his lowest ORtg (94) in the last six games dating back to last season. This sets up to be a game dominated by Baylor’s guards, so we expect Florida to hold Bridges to 10 or fewer points.

We are making this wager at bet365, as its -115 odds are better value than the -120 found at DraftKings to bet the Under.

LJ Cryer Over 2.5 3-pointers made vs. Montana (-110 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

A player rarely has an O/U as high as 2.5 on 3-pointers made, but our best sports betting apps have no choice but to go that high with LJ Cryer, who has made three or more 3-pointers in four consecutive games.

He started the season with just three combined threes made through the first two games, but the volume was still there (16 combined attempts), and Cryer has been much more efficient with his attempts, shooting 46.7% from beyond the arc over the last four games.

The Grizzlies rank 199th in 3-point percentage allowed (33.3%) and average eight 3-pointers allowed in their losses. With Houston expected to win convincingly, look for Cryer’s perimeter prowess to be a big reason why the Cougars will build a big early lead.

bet365 offers a price of -115 to back the Over, so we are making our wager at DraftKings.

Friday’s college basketball game picks

Bryant +18 vs. Xavier (-112 via BetRivers) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Xavier head coach Sean Miller is not particularly known for his elaborate zone offenses, even back to his days in Arizona when his superior Wildcats teams struggled with Mike Hopkins’ Washington 2-3 zone (Arizona was 3-1 against Washington in 2020 and 2021, but two of those wins were by three or fewer points). Now, the Musketeers face a zone that was the driving force behind one of the most surprising upsets this season when Bryant beat then-No. 10 FAU 61-52 as 23.5-point underdogs. In that game, the Bulldogs held the Owls to 0.76 points per possession and 0.68 points per possession at the rim.

Of Xavier’s four players who have attempted 10 or more 3-pointers, just one (Gytis Nemeiksa) is knocking them down at better than 32.1%, and we expect Phil Martelli Jr.’s bunch to make it 3-for-3 in covering the spread as underdogs this season.

The line movement has gone in Bryant’s favor, as BetRivers is the only remaining best sports betting site at which you can find the Bulldogs at +18, after several opened at +18 or higher yesterday.

UNC Asheville +1 vs. Lipscomb (-110 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

UNC Asheville is 2-2 on the season, but neither of its wins were against a D-I opponent, and it lost its first two games to Michigan and UNC Wilmington by a combined 42 points. However, we still have faith in the defending Big South champions, especially when facing a Lipscomb team that also lost its first two games to Wichita State and Drake by a combined 32 points and followed that up with two wins over teams ranked 318th or lower in KenPom.

Lipscomb ranks 32nd in the country in 3-point percentage (39.3%), but it has padded those statistics against the last two cupcakes on its schedule, as the Bisons shot 27.6% from beyond the arc in its first two losses. Lipscomb also shot only 19 free-throw attempts compared to its opponents’ 33 attempts in those first two games, which should prove troublesome against a UNC Asheville team that ranks in the top 13 in the country in free-throw attempts per field-goal attempt.

Reigning Big South Player of the Year Drew Pember has not even gotten going yet, failing to score 20 points in a game this year. Considering he had 19 games of 20 or more points last season, we believe this will be his breakout day offensively, and he will lead the Bulldogs to their first win over a D-I team.

UNC Asheville is a one-point favorite at our other best sportsbooks, so we are making our wager at DraftKings, the only shop at which we are getting points with the Bulldogs.
