The 2023-24 college basketball season is just around the corner, and our best best sports betting apps are starting to release more futures markets. Read on as we track the 2024 Big East regular-season championship market via the latest college basketball odds.

The Big East conference got the last laugh, when the UConn Huskies rolled through the 2023 NCAA Tournament. Dan Hurley's bunch earned a 16-point win over San Diego State in the national championship game.

What's especially funny is that the Huskies actually finished fourth in the Big East during the regular season. Marquette won the conference crown and brings basically everyone back, while most other teams in this league got better in the offseason.

Here is a look at the 2024 Big East championship market (odds via our best March Madness betting sites).

Big East basketball betting analysis

With conference play still several months away, it makes sense that this market isn't widely available.

We applaud Caesars and bet365 for being the first of our best sports betting sites to release conference odds. Shopping around is also much easier with only two sportsbooks posting prices at this time.

Big East basketball odds movement

The Big East odds have been out for a month, so there hasn't been as much movement to this point. The oddsboard is pretty top-heavy, with five different teams listed at 6/1 or better at both sportsbooks.

As a result, we expect these odds to move as soon as more of our best sportsbooks release conference markets.

Big East basketball odds 2024: Favorite

UConn (+300 via Caesars)

It's easy to forget that UConn didn't win its own conference after how the season ended. The Huskies won all six NCAA Tournament games by double digits, with their 72-59 victory over Miami in the Final Four proving to be the toughest test.

UConn naturally lost many key players from a team that cut down the nets, but there is plenty of talent on this year's roster. Donovan Clingan, a 7-foot-2 big man, is our favorite Wooden Award bet as he hopes to step in in for Adama Sanogo.

UConn ranks No. 3 in Bart Torvik's early 2024 projections, though both Creighton (No. 4) and Villanova (No. 11) are not far behind. The Big East will be as competitive as ever, particularly at the top. Can UConn handle being the team with a target on its back this season?

Big East basketball 2024: Contender

Marquette (+475 via Caesars)

There is reason to believe that Creighton and Villanova could be better, but we have to give the defending conference champs their respect by listing the Golden Eagles in this section. After all, Marquette was the last team to hand UConn a loss during the Big East conference tournament.

All Shaka Smart's squad did was exceed expectations all year. The Golden Eagles went 17-3 in league play to win the regular-season title. They followed that up by cutting down the nets with a Big East conference tourney crown.

Marquette brings back nearly 85% of the minutes from last year's team, including point guard Tyler Kolek. With Kolek leading the way, the Golden Eagles should continue to be one of the more efficient offenses in the sport.

Big East basketball odds 2024: Long shot

Villanova (+550 via Caesars)

One could argue that +550 shouldn't be considered a long shot, but Villanova does seem to be flying under the radar thus far. That's probably because the Wildcats missed the NCAA Tournament during a 17-17 campaign last year.

Don't be surprised if Villanova bounces back in a big way this season. The Wildcats have won seven of the last 10 regular-season conference titles, and enter the season ranked just outside the top 10 on Torvik's 2024 rankings.

Cam Whitmore left for the NBA, but Justin Moore is back after playing just 13 games last year following a long recovery to repair a tear in his right Achilles tendon. Moore should be fully healthy and ready to lead a hungry Villanova team in his fifth season.
