Ohio State vs. BYU Prediction: College Basketball Picks & Odds (Nov. 2)
Last Updated: November 2, 2026 3:30 AM EST • 3 minute read X Social Google News Link
No. 25 BYU starts the season against an Ohio State team that is predicted to finish eighth in the Big Ten, and my Ohio State vs. BYU prediction lays the points with the Cougars in what should feel like a home environment at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City.
Tipoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET on tonight, with BYU favored by 3.5 points and the total set at 160.5. My college basketball picks are centered around what should be a high-scoring game from the Cougars, and will be looking to back some player props on 3-pointers when more surface.

Ohio State vs. BYU best bet
BYU -3.5 (-110 via DraftKings)
BYU’s roster lost a big piece in eventual No. 1 NBA Draft pick AJ Dybantsa. But remaining is an experienced bunch that is ready to jack up 3-pointers (and make them) at an elite rate.
BYU is the only team, per Evan Miyakawa, with five elite 3-point shooters on its roster, based on those that project to be in the 90th percentile or better in 3-point shooting, excluding freshmen. The Cougars are also the only team in the country with a projected starting lineup with five players who shot over 39% from beyond the arc last season (Rob Wright 41%, Collin Chandler 41%, Bruce Branch III 39%, Tyler Betsey 41%, Jaxon Kohler (39%).
BYU is 19-11 ATS in neutral site games since 2024, but this pro-Cougars crowd in Utah will have the arena feeling like it’s a home game on campus in Provo.

BYU team total Over 81.5 (-120 via FanDuel)
BYU’s perceived lack of depth is a concern for later in the season. But in the meantime, the Cougars appeared to have fresh legs while coming back from second-half deficits in each of their last two exhibition games.
BYU scored 89 points in its final tune-up against UNLV. It’s also a great sign that its most unproven player, Bruce Branch III, looks the part of a real playmaker thus far. Branch scored 12 of his 14 points and had six assists in the second half alone against the Runnin’ Rebels, while the Cougars shot 51.5% from the field and 35.7% from 3-point range in the final 20 minutes.
Branch won’t have to shoulder too much of the load, as Robert Wright III returns as one of three players in program history with 600 points and 150 assists in a single season.
BYU should also find plenty of comfort playing at the Delta Center. It has won four straight games there (26-5 overall record) while outscoring opponents by nearly 27 points per game during that winning streak.
Play to: 82.5 (-110)
