It’s NBA Cup day, as tonight’s slate marks the start of the third edition of the in-season tournament. Amazon Prime will broadcast the marquee matchups (Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers, and Los Angeles Lakers vs. Memphis Grizzlies), but every contest tonight has stakes, and my NBA picks find the top plays.

It might be Halloween, but I’m not scared to bet a Joel Embiid prop for the second game in a row. Last time, it was his points prop (he scored 25 to clear 18.5) while playing just 23 minutes due to his restriction.
This time, I’m backing the Over on his rebounds and assists combo prop, which remains at 9.5 after he recorded seven rebounds and five assists against the Washington Wizards on Tuesday. Now, he gets a matchup against the Boston Celtics, who rank last in defensive rebounding with an inferior frontcourt.
Embiid and the 76ers continue to be underrated in the market, which is why I like this prop to earn $8.33 on a $10 bet.

⬇️ Karl-Anthony Towns Under 24.5 points + assists (-114) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns has struggled through four games of Mike Brown’s offensive system. He’s averaging 17 points and two assists per contest and has only cleared this prop once thus far.
Towns, who is dealing with a quadriceps injury, should eventually get comfortable. However, the Chicago Bulls are off to a surprising undefeated start with the third-best defensive rating. They are the best at defending above-the-break 3s, which takes a big part of Towns’ game out.
I project Towns to finish with 19 points and two assists, suggesting value on this Under to receive $8.77 on a $10 ticket.
⬆️ Cedric Coward Over 12.5 points (+100) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Surprise, surprise. The Memphis Grizzlies might have nailed another draft selection, taking Cedric Coward with the No. 11 pick. He’s averaging 16 points per game in his rookie campaign, clearing this mark in four of his five outings.
Coward continues to earn more of a workload off the bench, and this is a favorable matchup. The Lakers rank 18th in defensive rating and have allowed similar bench guards to cook them this season.
