NBA Top Picks

Upset: Thunder (+115) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

To say the Oklahoma City Thunder had a great game Tuesday would be an understatement. The team dropped 150 points (a franchise record since moving to Oklahoma City from Seattle) and beat the Boston Celtics by 33 without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Seven players scored in double figures, including five with at least 20. The Thunder will look to build on that performance in Orlando on Wednesday.

The Orlando Magic have been great against the spread at home this season, going 12-8. The team is only 9-11 straight-up in that situation, though, and this is the first time all season that the Magic have been favored at home.

Oklahoma City has been phenomenal ATS this season, and the Thunder have gone 10-5 as road underdogs, 19-10 as road 'dogs overall, and 2-2 on the second half of a back-to-back set.

The spread on this one is just one basket, so rather than betting the spread, we’ll take the plus-money Moneyline odds on Oklahoma City. The odds on this one range from +105 at FanDuel to +110 at Caesars to our target book, DraftKings, at which they are the longest and most profitable at +115.

Spread: Kings -1 (-108) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Another game with a small spread, but in this case, our best bet is on the spread rather than the ML because the odds are essentially that of a pick‘em. The Kings are 11-8 ATS following a win and 9-9 at home this season. The Kings are 13-3 as the favorite and 8-3 as the home favorite, and the team has won three of its last four contests.

The Atlanta Hawks have performed poorly on the road, going 3-9 SU as road 'dogs and 6-12 on the road overall. ATS, Atlanta hasn’t been much better, going 4-7-1 as the road dog, 6-11-1 on the road overall, and 3-7 against Western Conference opponents.

After an electric two-point victory Tuesday, we’re backing the Kings to light the beam at home, win and cover the spread against visiting Atlanta. The odds are set at -110 across most major books, except for FanDuel, which offers Sacramento at -1.5 for slightly shorter -108 odds.

Total: Rockets-Pelicans Under 230 (-110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

One of the league’s worst offensive teams faces one of the league’s best, and we’re banking on a lower-scoring affair. The Houston Rockets are 10-8 as road underdogs and 10-9 on the road overall this season, while the New Orleans Pelicans are 10-10 at home and 6-9 as home favorites. The Pels will still be without Brandon Ingram and Larry Nance, while Zion Williamson is out indefinitely.

The Pels have played great offense this season, but the team sports the seventh-best defensive rating at home (110.1).

On the flip side, the Rockets’ offensive rating is seventh worst in the league at just 110.9. The Pelicans should be able to limit Houston in this one, and the team isn’t likely to score as many points with Williamson and Ingram out of action. The total ranges from 228.5 to 230, but the odds are all set at -110.

Bettors should look to PointsBet and Caesars for the extra point and a half without adding any juice.

Prop: Donovan Mitchell Over 30.5 points (-117) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Donovan Mitchell had a historic performance Monday as he became just the seventh player in league history to score at least 70 points. "Spida" turned in 71 points as the Cleveland Cavaliers held off the Chicago Bulls in overtime. We’ll turn our attention to Mitchell for a points prop as he looks to build on the monumental performance.

Darius Garland is doubtful Wednesday and Evan Mobley is questionable, which leaves Mitchell to shoulder a heavy offensive workload. In 27 games with Garland this season, Mitchell has averaged 27.7 points, but he’s averaged 35.4 in seven games without him with five games of at least 32 points.

Even if we exclude the 71-point eruption, Mitchell still averaged 29.5 points across six contests with four games of at least 32 points. Facing a reeling Suns team that’s lost six of its last seven games, we’ll take Mitchell to have another great offensive performance.

The odds on this prop range from -120 to -117, and Caesars offers the longest. All major books have this one set at 30.5.
