I'm not even sure how you do it. One person gets the tongue, one person gets the cleats, one the laces? I don't know, but I'm open to suggestions. How do you split a boot six ways? The logistics are confusing.

The Euro 2024 Golden Boot was given odds from our best soccer betting sites heading into the final between Spain and England, with six players tied for a share of the goal lead. But no one could pull away, as Spain's Dani Olmo and England's Harry Kane were held off the scoresheet.

Spain sprinted off as the Euro odds favorites, and while they netted twice against England in the final, neither came off the boot of Olmo. Kane was the Three Lions' best chance, but he was subbed off after 60 minutes.

Four players whose teams had long been eliminated joined in sharing the coveted award, as Cody Gapko (Netherlands), Georges Mikautadze (Georgia), Jamal Musiala (Germany), and Ivan Schranz (Slovakia) had all potted three before their tournament ended.

2028 Euro top goal scorer favorites

Until we have a field set, we won't know who the favorite is to win the Golden Boot at Euro 2028. Four years is a lifetime in international football, and plenty can happen by way of aging players and injuries between now and then.

What to look for in a Golden Boot winner

There are many ways to identify solid candidates to win the Golden Boot at a major international tournament.

First, you want to select players who are more likely to play deeper into the tournament. Kane may score three or four goals in the group stage, but if his English side is knocked out in the Round of 16 and Kylian Mbappe and France progress to the final, the latter will naturally have a better chance of scoring more goals.

Second, you want to target teams that are more offensively minded. If you track a nation's recent form and see they win most of their games by scoring only one or maybe two goals, then even the best player on that team may not be the right option in this market.

The third thing to look for is players who are on penalties. As someone who plays Premier League fantasy and just saw how valuable Cole Palmer was thanks to his role as Chelsea's penalty-taker, this is really something to track. Kane will almost certainly be England's penalty-taker as the captain and one of the world's most cold-blooded finishers.

Fourth, I'd also look at players who are nailed on as starters. England's Phil Foden and Bukayo Saka were very interesting options at their long odds, but no one was sure how Gareth Southgate would set up his starting XI. Therefore, you want to avoid that type of situation until you have more information.

Finally, if you're looking for longer odds and want to bypass the favorites, target players in relatively easy groups. We mentioned that players who advance further will have an obvious advantage, but an attacking player who's prolific enough against inferior competition may just be able to win the Golden Boot in far fewer matches.

How to bet on the 2028 Euro top goal scorer odds

You'll be able to bet on the Golden Boot winner as well as on singular goal scorers for each match throughout the tournament.

Odds will change as more games are played, with each goal changing them significantly early in the tournament. The lower (or shorter) the odds, the more likely that player is believed to be capable of leading the tournament in goals.

If two or more players are tied for the goal-scoring lead at the end of the tournament, the market will result in a dead heat. This means the amount you were set to win will be divided by the number of players who tie for the lead.
