🏁 Cracker Barrel 400 predictions, expert picks & best bets at Nashville

Editor's note: picks were made before qualifying; latest odds listed above.

We don’t get a huge data set to work with for Nashville Superspeedway, as the Cup series has only been racing there since 2021. Fortunately, this 1.3-mile oval fits squarely into the low-speed intermediate bucket with its rough surface and shorter length. Venues like Darlington and Homestead are similar due to the comparable average speed and high tire wear.

Low-speed intermediate tracks have been chaotic this season. Kyle Larson passed Alex Bowman late in the race to win at Homestead despite leading just 19 laps. Denny Hamlin won at Darlington while leading just 10 laps. However, one driver led both events in average green flag speed, and he didn’t win either race: Ryan Blaney.

The tire wear Nashville’s concrete surface will induce rewards patient drivers who can manage their equipment over the long run while building speed on the top of the race track. Drivers with dirt-racing backgrounds excel in that area.

With all these factors combined, I predict Ryan Blaney will win the Cracker Barrel 400 at Nashville.

🏆 Pick to win Cracker Barrel 400: Ryan Blaney (+1000 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Blaney has probably boasted the fastest car in most races this season without the results to show for it, largely due to circumstances outside of his control. His luck will turn around at some point, and with odds of +1000 to find victory lane through FanDuel, the Cracker Barrel 400 is a great spot to back the veteran Team Penske driver.

The No. 12 Ford was easily the best car by average green-flag speed at both Homestead (157.6 mph) and Darlington (156.9). Blaney’s 0.7-mph edge on the field in the former race may be inflated due to him missing the final 60 laps with an engine failure. But he completed every lap at Darlington and was still 0.3 mph faster than the next-best driver, William Byron.

Blaney may not have logged a win here yet, but he's tallied one top-five result and two top 10s across his four Cup Series starts in Nashville, with both of his other outings ending early due to an accident. With Team Penske trending up in the speed department at intermediates and Blaney dominating at similar tracks, I’m a huge fan of locking him in at such a friendly price.

💎 Best value bet to win Cracker Barrel 400: Chase Briscoe (+2500 via BetMGM) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Picking Briscoe to win this race may not make sense right away, as he's posted his worst average finish at Nashville. Yet despite that, Darlington and Homestead have been good to him. He won last year’s Southern 500 and finished a solid fourth at Homestead this year.

The No. 19 Toyota team started the year off slowly with its new driver, but Briscoe has come along in the last few weeks. He just finished third at Charlotte after scoring a fourth-place result in Kansas. Crew chief James Small and Briscoe are starting to gel, and this track has historically been a good one for this team.

Small can crack open a pretty successful notebook for Nashville this weekend. In 2023, Martin Truex led 50 laps before finishing second. In 2022, Truex led 82 laps while winning both stages before some bad luck resulted in a 22nd-place result.

His odds of +2500 through BetMGM would yield a $250 profit on a $10 bet, making Briscoe the best bang for your buck.

🎯 Best long shot to win Cracker Barrel 400: Ryan Preece (+4500 via BetMGM) ⭐⭐⭐

I usually aim for a bit further down the board than +4500 for long shots, so if you need a true dart-throw fix, I’ll talk about one later. But Preece is simply too good–and the No. 60 Ford team is running too well–for him to be +4500. Perhaps that’s why you’ll find him as short as +2500 if you shop around at some of our other best sports betting sites.

The results on low-speed intermediates are a good sign. Preece ranked 13th in average green flag speed at Darlington before finishing ninth. He ranked eighth at Homestead but managed only a 26th-place result. We’re hoping for this team to keep trending upward in the speed department this weekend.

But beyond those numbers, Preece has won in Nashville before, just in the lower series. He's triumphed during both of his previous starts at this track, including a dominant 2022 performance that included leading 74 laps from the pole.

💰 Best Cracker Barrel 400 prop bets & picks at Nashville

We’ll be looking at the top-10 markets for both of our Cracker Barrel 400 prop bets ahead of the Nashville race. One aforementioned driver stands out with appealing value on this prop market, while another, Noah Gragson, offers value both here and as an outright.

🔥 Best prop bet for Cracker Barrel 400: Ryan Preece top 10 (+210 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I’ve already detailed Preece’s strong average green flag speed at low-speed intermediate tracks while discussing his resume at this venue in the lower series. But to truly understand why Preece is a great value at odds of +210, we’ll keep it simple while just looking at his past Cup Series results here.

Preece piloted a bad No. 41 Ford for Stewart-Haas Racing in 2024 to a fourth-place finish after starting 22nd. He moved the same car up from 25th to 16th in 2023. He did so despite ranking 30th and 27th by average green-flag speed in both events, respectively. Odds of +210 are just too kind.

🚀 Best long-shot prop bet for Cracker Barrel 400: Noah Gragson top 10 (+550 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐

Throwing a dart on Gragson to win this race (+10000 at most of our best sports betting apps) isn’t a bad idea. But betting on him to score a simple top 10 (+550 at FanDuel) might be the better idea.

Like Preece, Gragson piloted a poor Stewart-Haas Racing car to a top-10 result here last year. But unlike Preece, he even scored a top 10 in Stage 2 with a driver rating of 76.4 to Preece’s 59.

Gragson, now piloting the No. 4 Ford for Front Row Racing, looked reasonably fast during the first two low-speed intermediates this year. He ranked 15th by average green-flag speed at Homestead and 18th at Darlington.

He may need some attrition to crack the top 10. But with 39 cars on the entry list, the raw odds of this bet (25.4%) point to value on the +550 (15.4%).

📈 Cracker Barrel 400 trends & Nashville Superspeedway history

Here are a few Cracker Barrel 400 trends to consider before betting on Sunday's race at Nashville Superspeedway.

🏎️ Joe Gibbs Racing can’t finish. In the three races at Nashville in the NextGen Era, JGR hasn’t secured a win despite leading 62.8% of the laps. Two of those races ended with a JGR driver leading the most laps.

🏎️ Expect Denny Hamlin to be fast in qualifying. Hamlin, who pilots the No. 11 Toyota for JGR, has a won whopping two poles in over three Nashville races during the NextGen Era. The only other driver to have won a pole here, Ross Chastain, won the race.

💡 How to bet on NASCAR at Nashville

When betting on low-speed intermediates, there are a few key NASCAR betting strategy tips to keep in mind.

  • Don’t be afraid to get dirty. Drivers with dirt-track racing backgrounds tend to ride the wall better and handle cars that struggle to find grip, which can often be the case deep into runs on tracks like this one.
  • Get a little bold. Plenty of longer-shot drivers win at these tracks, and Nashville is no exception. Joey Logano and Ross Chastain weren’t among the favorites when they won here in Music City over the last two campaigns.
