The Ottawa Redblacks (1-6) enter Week 8 with the worst record in the CFL and the second-longest Grey Cup odds. However, their lone win came against Calgary, and our Stampeders vs. Redblacks prediction foresees another upset.

So, why predict an upset?

The Redblacks’ lone victory came via a 20-12 upset of Calgary as 3-point road underdogs in Week 3, and underdogs cashed in all seven Stampeders’ games this season, all of which secured victories.

The latest to do so was Montreal, which traveled to Calgary in Week 8 as a 6.5-point pup and departed with a 23-21 victory — the fourth straight time an underdog of at least 4.5 points prevailed in a game featuring Calgary.

Fading favorites when the Calgary Stampeders are on the field has resulted in immense profits this season. Go back to the 2024 finale, and the underdog has won and covered eight consecutive games involving the Stampeders.

Calgary was the team catching points in six of those contests. However, they lost on the two occasions when they took the field as chalk. That includes the aforementioned Week 3 game against Ottawa, in which Calgary scored a season-low 12 points despite piling up 378 yards.

The Redblacks stampeded the Stampeders, rushing for 239 yards, averaging nearly 8 yards per carry.

Last week, Calgary’s defense couldn’t stop Montreal’s average passing attack, yielding 322 aerial yards. The offense mustered just three touchdowns in a two-point home loss.

It was only the second time in seven contests the Stampeders failed to put up at least 24 points. Obviously, on paper, Calgary is the superior squad in this matchup.

But thanks to boasting a four-game SU and ATS winning streak against the Stamps, including its Week 3 victory, Ottawa will take the field with added confidence.

Additionally, the Redblacks are fully rested after a Week 8 bye. Look for yet another upset, with Ottawa prevailing 24-20.

Stanback has seen a slightly heavier workload than Daniel Adeboboye, with 49 carries to Adeboboye's 35.

Back in Week 3 against the Stampeders, Adeboboye rumbled for 96 yards on 10 carries, while Stanback chipped in for 82 yards on nine carries. Aside from that productive performance, Stanback has not topped 40 yards.

However, the 201-pound bruiser had success against the Stampeders in all three meetings last season (50, 64 and 69 yards) and in both 2023 matchups (81 and 86 yards). Add it up, and Stanback has cleared 47 rushing yards six straight times against Calgary.
