The Saskatchewan Roughriders look to rebound from their first defeat of the season when they face the BC Lions tonight at 7 p.m. ET at BC Place (TSN/CTV, CBSSN), as we offer our Roughriders vs. Lions prediction.
Although Saskatchewan finds itself on the top half of the Grey Cup odds board, it is a short road underdog against its West Division rival. We believe the home team is poised for revenge in what should be a high-scoring affair.

BC capped a three-game road trip with back-to-back wins at Montreal (21-20) and Edmonton (32-14). However, the Lions started their trip with an ugly 37-18 Week 4 loss at Saskatchewan as a 2.5-point underdog. The difference in that one? BC lost the turnover battle, 4-0.
While the Roughriders have defeated the Lions three straight times - and by the eye-popping combined score of 104-45 - all three games were in Saskatchewan. In fact, the home team has won seven in a row in this rivalry. Look for that streak to reach eight games Saturday, with BC avenging its Week 4 defeat at Saskatchewan with a 31-28 win.

Simply put, it’s difficult to trust either of these defenses right now. Saskatchewan is giving up 24.6 points per game, while BC is only a smidge better at 24.3 ppg - and those numbers are a bit misleading.
The Roughriders have held only one opponent to less than 23 points. Yes, that opponent was BC, but as previously noted, the Lions gave the football away four times in their 37-18 Week 4 loss. They also didn’t have the services of starting quarterback Nathan Rourke, who was sidelined with an oblique injury.
Meanwhile, BC’s defense has only shut down two teams - one of which is offensively challenged Edmonton, which fell to the Lions by near-identical scores in Week 1 (31-14) and Week 6 (32-14). Newsflash: the Elks rank seventh in the nine-team CFL in scoring.
BC did hold a solid Montreal offense in check in a 21-20 Week 5 victory. However, in three games prior to facing the Alouettes, the Lions had allowed an average of 32.7 points, including a season-high 37 to Saskatchewan in a game that Roughriders starting quarterback Trevor Harris sat out with a concussion.
That’s right: both teams were without their top signal-callers when they squared off three weeks ago ... and the teams still combined for 55 points.
With Harris under center, Saskatchewan is averaging 33.5 points. And when Rourke is running BC’s offense, the Lions are putting up 25.8 points. What’s more, the last two Roughriders-Lions clashes in BC have produced fireworks, with the home team winning 35-20 and 33-26.

Rourke missed back-to-back games against Winnipeg (Week 3) and Saskatchewan (Week 4) with his oblique strain. When he’s been on the field? The fifth-year pro has torched opposing defenses, averaging a CFL-high 307.8 passing yards per game.
That includes back–to-back games of 352 yards (Montreal) and 345 yards (Edmonton) since returning from injury. Meanwhile, Saskatchewan’s secondary is yielding 306.2 air yards per outing - second-most in the CFL.
