Best CFL bet this week

Lions vs. Elks prediction: Lions -1.5 (-107)

This matchup is pretty much the best offense in the West facing the best defense. People like to say that defense wins championships, but I'm not buying that. The Tiger-Cats had the best defense in the East, and they didn't even make the playoffs.

Now, I'm not saying that offense is everything - I think it accounts for about 60% of the game, though - but this Lions offense has looked unstoppable since Rourke returned from injury in Week 10. Excluding the final game of the regular season, when he rested, the Lions have gone 9-2 straight up, with a +7 average scoring margin.

Blue Bombers vs. Alouettes prediction: Alouettes -8.5 (-108)

The Blue Bombers were somewhat lucky to win straight up in Toronto in the Eastern Semifinal.

Winnipeg started Dru Brown instead of the injured Zach Collaros, Chad Kelly was forced to leave the game with a shoulder injury, and the Argonauts fumbled a punt return while leading by five points with 1:42 remaining.

The Blue Bombers are likely out of luck. Collaros was in street clothes for Thursday's practice, and I believe it's unlikely that he'll suit up. So, it'll be Brown again, facing the best offense in the CFL, led by Davis Alexander, who closed as the favorite in the Most Outstanding Player odds. This shouldn't be close.
