The Minnesota Twins evened their series with the Detroit Tigers in yesterday’s victory, but our Twins vs. Tigers prediction fades a Minnesota team that has not won any of its last seven road series.

The Tigers are -130 betting favorites at our best sports betting sites, with a total set at O/U 7.5 runs. First pitch from Comerica Park in Detroit is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. ET (MLBN).

Minnesota is 17-28 since June 13, which is tied for the second-worst record in baseball in that span. Unfortunately for Twins fans, the worst may be yet to come, which is why I am backing Detroit with my Twins vs. Tigers prediction.

No team has arguably been as evident as punting this season as Minnesota, with only two players under contract for next year amid the team’s pending offseason sale. With one of those players being Byron Buxton, the team’s best hitter who has been out since July 26 with a left rib cartilage injury, that makes this moneyline play an even more confident Twins vs. Tigers best bet.

Detroit has won six of its last seven home games against teams with a losing record, and has especially avoided losing streaks against Minnesota, winning each of its last eight following a loss to the Twins.

Two things are seemingly working against us with this wager: the game has a low O/U of 7.5 runs, and Minnesota hadn’t announced its starting pitcher as of this writing. But I did not want to back a Twins batter, and no Detroit slugger has been as much of a thorn in Minnesota’s side as Carpenter, which is why he makes our best Twins vs. Tigers player props.

While Carpenter had his three-game home run streak against Minnesota snapped yesterday, he extended his multi-hit streak against the Twins to four with hits in his first two at-bats. He is now batting .402 with six home runs, 17 RBIs, 17 runs, 12 extra-base hits, and a 1.103 OPS in 28 career games versus Minnesota.

With the Twins not having announced a starting pitcher, FanDuel was the only top sports betting site offering batter props for Tigers players. Given Carpenter’s elite numbers against Minnesota, I am happy to blindly back his RBI odds, and would still play this down to +130.
