Shohei Ohtani makes his second start of the season Wednesday when the Los Angeles Angels complete their series against the Seattle Mariners. Check out our Shohei Ohtani player prop picks based on the best MLB odds.

MLB megastar Shohei Ohtani was his ever-dominant self on Opening Day. The Los Angeles Angels righty struck out 10 batters over six innings of spotless, efficient work and staked his team to a 1-0 lead against the lowly Oakland Athletics. He also went 1-for-3 from the plate with a walk.

But like much of his Angels tenure, L.A. blew the game upon Ohtani's exit from the mound. Two A's runs in the bottom of the eighth inning resulted in a 2-1 victory for Oakland.

Ohtani takes the bump again on Wednesday against a Seattle Mariners team he has a 4-0 record against in six career starts.

There's no question that Ohtani could go deep into the game and he'd need to record an out in the seventh inning to hit the Over on this bet, but the reality is that, as a two-way star, the Angels try to limit Ohtani's workload as a pitcher. He went seven-plus innings just eight times in 28 starts last season.

Ohtani threw 93 pitches in six innings of work in his first start of the season and it's unlikely the Angels would like to push the Unicorn much further than that so early in the campaign.

The odds are juiced to the Under for a reason. There's only so much the Angels can put on their workhorse. Unless he's throwing a no-hitter, expect Ohtani to be limited to six innings of work. He didn't complete the seventh inning until his fifth start of the year last season.

Let's not forget that Ohtani will also be swinging the bat on Wednesday. 

He already has two home runs in five games this season and went deep against the Mariners in the series opener.

Though he has a .125/.300/.313 career slash line against Seattle starter Chris Flexen, Ohtani has also taken him deep once in 16 at-bats. 

He supported his own cause with a home run in a game he started twice last season.
