No. 6 LSU (46-15) is one game away from a championship versus No. 13 Coastal Carolina (56-12). But with Coastal’s ace taking the mound, today's action at 2:30 p.m. ET is basically a pick’em in the College World Series odds. Let’s dive into our LSU vs. Coastal Carolina prediction and odds as the College Baseball World Series continues.

✅ LSU vs. Coastal Carolina prediction & picks

Last night featured LSU getting a complete game shutout from star pitcher Kade Anderson (12-1, 3.18 ERA), keeping their bullpen fresh. Next up is Anthony Eyanson (11-2, 2.92 ERA). With pitching at a premium in Omaha, the Tigers are in a great spot.

But Coastal trots out Jacob Morrison (12-0, 2.08 ERA) for today’s game. Morrison’s batting average allowed (.194) clears what we've seen from Eyanson (.215) and Anderson (.211). Although the Chants used Dominick Carbone (five saves, 2.41 ERA) last night, Ryan Lynch (nine saves, 0.58 ERA) is fresh.

🆚 Who will win LSU vs. Coastal Carolina?

This game has the makings of a pitching clinic. But last night’s Game 1 showed that LSU’s supposed offensive edge may not be as wide as we thought. The Tigers tallied six hits and two walks. The Chants notched three hits, eight walks, and a hit batter.

LSU first baseman Jared Jones, who clocks in at second on the Tigers in slugging percentage (.620), struck out three times with zero hits. The team leader in slugging percentage, designated hitter Ethan Frey (.636), failed to get on base. It could’ve been an aberration, but LSU’s offense just doesn’t seem that scary, at least in Omaha.

Coastal will need a better performance from the bottom of its batting order, but that’s a more realistic ask against Eyanson than Anderson. The Chants wasted too many opportunities last night. Don’t expect head coach Kevin Schnall to let his team make those mistakes again.

It may be too late to win the series, but Coastal Carolina can certainly win Game 2. So far bettors are split, with Coastal Carolina getting 14.6% of the tickets at BetMGM, but LSU is receiving 19.4% of the handle.

📊 LSU vs. Coastal Carolina betting odds

Here are the live LSU vs. Coastal Carolina odds for tonight's game:

🆚 LSU vs. Coastal Carolina pitching matchup

  • LSU: Anthony Eyanson (11-2, 2.92 ERA)
  • Coastal Carolina: Jacob Morrison (12-0, 2.08 ERA)

Anderson versus Flukey was an excellent pitcher’s duel, and we can expect more of the same with Eyanson versus Morrison tonight. While Morrison’s 0.913 WHIP clears Eyanson’s 1.14, the latter's 12.7 K/9 clears Morrison’s 8.8.

The fastballs from Eyanson and Morrison top out in the mid-90s, which is a dip from the high-90s that both Anderson and Flukey reached last night. As a result, I expect fewer strikeouts today. I also expect to see an LSU bullpen arm, of which there are several scary options.

Once the Tigers pull Eyanson, they’ll have Casan Evans (seven saves, 2.05 ERA) and Zac Cowan (six saves, 2.94 ERA) to choose from to finish the game off. Time will tell whether they elect to use them in this spot, or if Morrison and the Chants can force the Tigers to save those weapons for tomorrow.
